My shop is giving me the multiverse map poster, which I'm going to use for a DCU Adventures campaign I'm starting with my friends. I'd like to think Morrison would approve. May just have to shut the lights off and go home after Multiversity. This might be the definitive super hero comic.

Got the Captain Carrot cover and the multiverse poster. I'm in too deep! Is there a guide to all the alternate Earths? The poster is strangely beautiful.

I think the mini Wonder Woman and Steel might be from Superman/Batman. Originally appearing in the issue where Superman hallucinates on magic Kryptonite.

Grover had some meta books. Remember The Monster at the End of this Book?

Maybe Herr Hex is a Nazi Jonah Hex that's on the wrong side of WWII instead of the Civil War.

Also wanted to point out that Earth 20 and Earth 40 lay on the lines from the center of the multiverse map for Heaven and Hell respectively. And Parallax being the vehicle of the gods of rivers works because they use his skull to power the machine that takes them into the multiverse.

Looks like Earth 16 is a retooled version of Earth 8 where the 90's characters kept the legacy identities. The Azrael suit shows that he was probably the last Batman before Damian. I wonder if this was also part of the Super Sons (sons of Batman and Superman) story he wanted to do forever. Very fun issue. Great world building, and moving the mega plot forward.

That Superman in the foreground of the last page is the only with a belt and missing gloves.

Not at home to check the comic, but are they groups of four or two groups of two, possibly flanking the central character?

We already decided we're starting a campaign of the DCU game by Green Ronin (Hi, Inkslinger), and starting them with a copy of the Multiversity Guidebook, and taking things from there. Give Grant's latest interview with ComicsAlliance a read. Gives some good insight into Multiversitu.

Inkslinger posted:Yeah, the Guidebook really makes me wish we could do one more sourcebook for the game. But you're right--it's half sourcebook already. It's not like I wasn't using issues of Who's Who in my old DC Heroes RPG sessions back in the Way Back. Would've been cool, but just as that book would come out there would be some new crisis to muck things up. The four Green Ronin books and the Multiversity Guidebook should be more than enough to make a great campaign. Playing with a group of musicians, so we're going to play up the musical part of multiverse travel.

Teenage Fansub posted:It's within the 60 years later 2016 section without any other time marker, but the Freedom Fighters unveiling scene has to be a flashback, right? The idea is that they are survivors in the sense that nearly everyone of their races were exterminated during WWII. Nobody wants to talk about how critical of America this issue was? Or how it paints modern Superman as a facist, having lost touch with his more socialist roots?

I liked when the 90's muscle guy bit out Adam Warlock's soul gem.

"And everyone's waiting for the hero to take the stage." Alfred talking to Dick in the first issue of Batman & Robin. And I miss my Superman Beyond 3D avatar. "I'm in a self assembling hyper story! And it's trying it's best to destroy me!" It's kind of amazing Grant never wrote Adam Warlock when he was with Marvel.

"I CAN SEE YOU!" Probably changed the way a lot of people look at comics. "What is it about sombreros? Some things are just naturally funny."

Sure, but does discussing and analyzing the book improve your life in any way? Maybe now you'll be watching some stupid movie on Netflix, think "This is some Gentry poo poo.", and turn it off so you can do something more constructive. Grant wants us all to be super heroes. JLA: World War 3, Final Crisis, and Ultra Comics all touch on it. Either be a super hero or a super cannibal.

Effectronica posted:Why are you assuming that he's talking through the villain? Fact is, you've let the Gentry in and now you've convinced yourself that you're caught in the Oblivion Machine. But there is no Oblivion Machine, and there's nothing wrong with reading comic books. There can be if you read lovely books. And i think it's wonderful that DC published a book with a Nazi Justice League facing off against the Freedom Fighters who are portrayed as a sympathetic terrorist group. Multiversity makes some harsh critiques sometimes, but it obviously comes from a good place. The dude loves making comic books, and just wants them to be more than a mindless indulgence.

My thoughts on the chibi robot heroes were confirmed. They're toys, DC action figures. The panel architecture gave me an uncomfortable feeling. And I think the empty hand is our hand. Captain Carrot and Aquawoman really stole the show for me. Great team shot at the end. Planting the seed for a thousand stories that could, but probably won't be told. Good grief! Go outside and live your lives!
