space marine was ph neutral. it was completely worth playing but not worth playing at the same time

it was like... "Ehh, got no problems with it, but it's not good enough to keep my attention"

Tomb Raider was a cool game and i don't get the negativeness surrounding it but maybe that's because i like never died

i thought some of the tomb raider deaths got a little torture porn-y

it was kind weird how long they lingered on the deaths in a game where horror/gore wasn't the idea

the sad part is that knowing about it getting a little like that made me know the rebar thing was going to get cauterized at some point because that's the only way to treat wounds in games

I like Sonic 3d Blast on the Genesis. It's a terrible sequel for a Sonic game and it looks like a token low effort response to stuff like DKC and MarioRPG, but its a surprisingly decent sequel for Flicky, the music was pretty good and I'm a sucker for isometric games.

Resident Evil 6 plays really well once you understand the controls but then at the same time the level design is awful

Still had a lot of fun playing it co-op and it was worth the purchase for the Mercenaries mode alone.

this is becoming more and more true every year and need for speed is part of the reason why

I like Gran Turismo almost as much as I like Ridge 7 so I'd be completely fine with it if all these games ostensibly moving in a more realistic direction actually ended up feeling like Gran Turismo but they invariably end up blending the worst of both worlds. Like all the Criterion NFSen have this weight to the cars and you can't do ludicrous Burnout Paradise drifts anymore (boo!) but at the same time there's not enough serious sim in there to really make driving around without the arcade excesses very nuanced or interesting. And every Codemasters sim-lite has cars that can spin out but there's not enough feedback and the physics aren't terribly consistent so you've got to use an external cam and just look at what the car is doing in order to catch it in time.

there was one scene in one of the trailers that looked a little like rape and a lot of the death animations really make it seem like there was some dude working on them going :mrgw: the whole time but yeah i dont think the game as a whole is misogynistic.

I liked the emphasis on exploring levels, but I can get why people wouldn't like it because it has nothing that made Sonic distinctive.

The trailers made it look like it was just a constant beating-up-Lara-Croft simulator under the guise of character building, but I never played it to find out

That was my impression of it based on trailers but all that awkward poo poo is front loaded and the rest of the game is Lara getting better methods to kill dudes. The game does really wanna show you Lara writhing in pain a lot.

That one death where she's impaled through the neck, there's no visible wound. All they did was take the model and just jam another polygon through it and everything else is screen effects and sound effects to make it appear more gory than it really is. There's really no mortal kombat style deaths or anything. In fact the deaths are less intricate than those of Resident Evil 4(Leon had a decapitation rig and all of Lara's rigs have no parts coming off). They just have really good sound people. Seriously the splats, skull dull thuds and bone crushing sounds are the best I've heard in a game.

But the best thing is all the starting enemies are some sort of cult crazies who then slowly get replaced by the stomguard dudes who toss them around like toys.

some of the deaths were a little much and they did a dumb thing where it kept switching between lara as a normal person vs lara as female rambo in talky bits vs not talky bits and the devs said some incredibly dumb poo poo about her being designed in a way that makes you want to protect her but it wasnt really that bad when all was said and done

All I heard about it beforehand was the story was poo poo / bizarre, and it is, but it's not like it shits all over the epic masterpiece that was the original's narrative. I DID use the Radd Spencer skin from the outset, though, because I could and it's better.

Swinging around is fun as gently caress (great animation) and there are some really beautiful setpieces. Combat is fun enough but secondary.

it looks pretty loving good for a mid 360/ps3 age game, has an alright score, and swinging around is amazingly fun. I played the multiplayer through hamachi once and it's intense as gently caress.
