I finally found a place in Mississippi that does X-Wing (only 90 minutes from me!) so I just pulled the trigger on ordering Scum. Gets here Friday!

My wallet... :smithicide:

IG-88C
Veteran Instincts
Advanced Sensors
Autothrusters
Inertial Dampers
IG-2000
Heavy Laser Cannon

IG-88D

Autothrusters

My other thought was swapping the Inertial Dampers for a Hot Shot Blaster and then dropping the HLC for...something? Proton Bombs? Go full-on knife-fighter and take Autoblaster? Playing in close means I get slightly less benefit from Autothrusters but I'm more able to arc-dodge with the hard-3 Segnors and boosts so it probably balances out.

At least the tournament rules state that TOs have final say for any rules interpretations and have the ability to override the FAQ.

Solution: TO makes an announcement prior to the tournament stating that Scum firesprays can use their rear arcs. Whiny pissbaby players can shut the gently caress up and deal.

Has anybody here ever played a game with moving asteroids using some kind of scatter die and moving them using the speed 1 template in between turns? The idea kind of intrigues me and brings to mind images of TIEs getting smashed to smithereens in Empire.

We did this at my LGS, one problem we ran into was when the asteroids hit edges they'd clump up. We fixed that by having them wrap around the board i.e. if the scatter die takes one off the left edge it reappears on the right edge at range 1 from it.

It was a neat change, kind of a pain in the butt, but neat. If you're not a sadist, roll the scatter die for asteroid movement before setting dials. If you ARE a sadist, make the roll once all the dials are down :getin:

I'd buy one at 1:270 scale just to have it sit in the middle of the play area and be the biggest, bulk-freighteriest pain in the rear end.

Also you could probably make scenarios with it?

Super-slippery lists are fun, but I have a hard time taking any 3-ship list where one of them has 2-dice attack...then again I also want to run this:

"Lucky Sevens"
Scum, 100 points

Kath Scarlet
+ Heavy Laser Cannon

Kavil
+ Push the Limit
+ Unhinged Astromech
+ BTL-A4 Y-wing
+ Blaster Turret
+ Engine Upgrade

N'dru Suhlak
+ Lone Wolf

which would probably die to a Whisper list pretty fast.

I like the ion cannon turret, range 2 attacks without needing the focus is nice.

4x Syndicate Thug with Ion Cannon and R4 Agromech would be fun as heck (not very tournament-workable though, high-PS opponents would wreck it). I have a weakness for gimmick builds.

How good is the TIE Defender? Is it useful enough long term to get one now just for the predator pilot ability?

When you say super turtle green, what pilot ability (or abilities with A-wing test pilot) are typically added?

Just checking, but there is no prohibition from using a regular A-Wing pilot with the Rebel Aces blue A-Wing, or vice versa?

1) It's...okay. I don't see it used much in the meta these days, it's a little overcosted IMO and the white K-turn is cool but also really predictable since your 1 and 2-hard turns are red.

2) Autothrusters, PTL, then Test Pilot for Expert Handling or Outmaneuver or whatever you like. Chardaan to keep it cheap, or Proton Rockets to add punch.

3) Nope! Model paint doesn't matter.

This was way back, like pre-wave-5, so not TERRIBLY but not that well, either. I think it was Captain Jonus and then two Scimitars with ordnance.

e: maybe Jonus and 3x Scimitars? I don't remember. It was definitely all-bombers. Maybe I have four bombers. I have too many ships.

I am looking forward to regionals since I'll be the only one flying Fat Han once again. Been flying it for a year now. I won't be looking forward to people asking if it's paul's list, blah blah or asking why there's no R2 when it's painfully obvious why. It's funny that R2 is considered the must-have fat han nowadays when I recall gunner and predator was the good choice and everyone assumed I must've copied my list from someone online. I've been testing with both Corran and the classic 3Z. The problem with Corran remains the loss in the jousting strength that Zs gave. Now, the meta has much more arc dodging but both the decimator and double aggressor will give the list a hard time if I don't use the Zs. As always, I"m fine with them killing the Zs early since every shot used isn't hitting Han and the opponent needs to take down all 3 anyway. That means Soontir or Vader gets killed first and the other interceptors aren't as difficult to kill.

Might test with Biggs or Tarn and Z again, as I remember Paul doing that for a bit last year too around the same time I was testing them lol. However, I don't think they'll give the necessary buff needed to deal with arc dodgers and it's one less ship to use for bumping or boxing decimators and aggressors.

They're nice to paint. You should paint one.

I did Fat Han + Corran at the 2014 Atlanta Regionals and went 3-3 (but I am bad). It was a fun as heck list though. I'm interested to see how it'd go if I flew it today when the meta's different and I'm slightly less bad.

Corran was doing the Marksman double-tap thing. It worked okay-ish but yeah it was very weak in the joust, I had to be super careful, and PS trends have inched upward so VI is definitely something to consider. Still super satisfying to manage get a Phantom or somebody else high-PS in arc and unload the double-tap though.

I am new to the game, and while this thread has given me a lot of really good advice I am still struggling to get my imperial fleet up and running.

Currently i have the standard box plus a phantom, tie interceptor, and a decimator.

I am not looking to running larger games then 100, but I am struggling to see if there is anything to round out the current ships/cards I have.

Any suggestions? From what I have gathered from this thread it seems I need at least a tie advanced at least vader. I have also considered the Imperial Aces box, would that be unreasonable?

Aces is good if you're enjoying the Interceptor. Buying an Advanced is probably not a great idea unless you know for sure you're going to buy the upcoming Imperial Raider huge ship (MSRP $100) which contains the cards you'll need to make it really viable for any kind of use.

Buying another TIE Fighter is good because it has some nice pilots in the box. Firesprays are also good (and usable should you decide to play Scum later on as well).

Spitballing with my old FLGS group, my ordnance fix is a modification (cost 0-2, not sure what's "right") that lets you take a target lock and a focus as a single action, but if you don't use the target lock this turn it's discarded during the end phase. Call it Munitions Guidance Array or something suitably fluffy.

As another balance point, possibly also require you to use the focus and target lock on the same attack, i.e. if you use the granted focus for defense you can't use the TL and it gets discarded.

Did a test match earlier and went well, although I'm still not sure about it and if I should make any changes - like swapping out Vader for a Phantom or something, although it's hard to say.

I used to do 2x Bounty Hunter and 2x Black Sqd with Predator, but that was a long time ago and I don't know how it'd fare these days. Low-PS probably hurts more now than it used to.

Several really great matches though, I'm glad I went. The guy who took first place has only been playing for a couple weeks, it was a good time. At least Tactician only procs if my target is in-arc at range 2, so it's not as ludicrously evil as it could be if I got to double-stress anyone in the range 2 donut with TLT.

I'm not sure if I'd rather go up against 3x TLT K-wings or 4x TLT Y-wings. Either one is evil.
