Matter of fact, I'm salty now.
So as a recap, we currently know that the Victory-I and Victory-II are in, conversely the Nebulon-B Escort Frigate and Support Refit are also in. Multiple options for each hull are in, although it's not known whether the CR90a or the Gladiator SD will have hull variants. From the dumb Team Covenant video you can see that the Victory-II is better than the Victory-I, and both are stronger than the Nebulons. The Gladiator-class looks to be able to pump out more damage than the Nebulon, I can't really see anything else but I would suppose that the Gladiator will be a more squadron-orientated ship compared to the better armed VSD.

Imperials will be getting TIE Fighters, Bombers, Advanced and Interceptors. Rebels get X, Y, A and B-Wings.

I'm sure it'll probably be between 1/4 and 1/2 again as large as the VSD, seeing the VSD is 900 meters long and an ISD is 1600 metres long. It literally makes zero sense to have an unplayably large model in a game focusing on capital ships where sizes are already abstracted.

I demoed this at GenCon yesterday and it's pretty fun. The demo emphasizes how much of a brick the Victory is compared to the Neb-B/CR-90. I can also add that in the demo both sides have named Characters. There is a Luke X-Wing that has slightly different stats (but more importantly has access to "Defense Tokens" like the Capitals) and some Imperial Captain (I was playing as the Rebels so I didn't get a good look at her). Also in the demo were two different hull configurations for each of the three Capitals from the starter box.

I'm interested to see what the hull configurations are for the CR-90.

I might pick up ImpAss, if only as a nice occasional board game.

The fighters actually look like a really neat concept and :drat: I'd like a Gladiator.

I can wait for Imperial Assault, but I'm really looking forward to it.

Isn't the whole point of Imperial Assault taking a party of named Rebels against a shitload of unnamed bad guys (with occasional named baddie) and seeing what happens? I mean it wouldn't be mega thematic if a Stormtrooper blew away a PC every round.

That being said, shouldn't the Rebels have some generic trooper grunts and stuff to use in Skirmish?

re: statistics chat, it's hard to know whether the dice app is "truly" random without decompiling it. From my own experience, RNG's for lotteries (like Keno, for example) use a number as a 'seed' followed by a complex algorithm in order to generate a random number. If someone theoretically knew the algorithm, then they would be able to derive the seed used and would give them an advantage in picking the right number. Seeds are changed every day or week or something in order to prevent this kind of cheating.

Personally, I've seen this criticism of "dice roll apps" before, where it is claimed that this "seeding" can create an unfair bias towards certain numbers. I have yet to have seen any proof to this effect, and really it's going to be heavily dependent on the written program as their are programs in existence which can actually claim to be truly random through some fair complex programming and statistical techniques, of which I am not familiar with/learned. Without having conducted tests, I really don't think that a statistically significant difference would exist between real dice and the dice rolling app.

The take home point here is that if you think you lost because your opponent is using a sanction dice rolling app, then you are terrible please don't play traditional games, tia

In a game like 40k where you a rolling mountains of dice, yeah I can understand. X-Wing doesn't really roll that much dice at once anyway so

Anyway, my post was more commenting on why some people feel uneasy regarding dice apps.

I think I will pick up a Gladiator-class Star Destroyer and an Imperial Fighter pack, but I am going to save my money for when the Imperial-class Star Destroyer drops.

There was a hierarchy of canon:

G-Canon was the films and anything established by Lucas himself.

T-Canon was Clone Wars and other TV stuff that never actually materialized

C-Canon was the majority of books, novels, game plots, etc.

S-canon is a bunch of older stuff like the first run of Marvel comics, old RPG sourcebooks etc

N-canon was the only Non Canon stuff, including deliberately non canonical stuff like What If stories, as well as things that got de canonized.

Things were canonical until such time as something higher up the hierarchy invalidated it.
