What's Ossus like? Is there a good amount of detail on it as an adventure location?

Cheers man, my GM who is currently distracting us on our way to Ossus is tickled pink.

What is the Executioner tree like, any stand out abilities?

The demolitionist tree is also a good way for a high int mechanic to leverage some damage and improvise some explosives. It's quite effective.

I'm in a campaign still running from when Edge of the Empire launched, we are at 1100exp.

To make certain skill checks difficult the GM has to throw 5 red dice and 4 black at our core skills, but your non-triangle focused abilities are a lot less wacky, we've been trying to branch out into different areas and spread ourselves a little as it becomes a trifle ludicrous.

The result should be failure with a triumph from all that. The triumph's extra success counts as a normal one when it comes to cancelling things out, but you still get the triumph's benefit from the roll.

They really should have had two symbols on the triumph side, a success and a triumph and not have triumphs count as successes.

The only mechanism for consistently making combat less brutal are the Parry and Deflect talents in Force and Destiny. That or play a high Brawn character. Cover does little, adding Black or Red dice helps but they are very unpredictable in effect and adding large amounts is difficult.

Offense also scales a lot faster than defense so the game becomes rocket tag fairly quickly.

I'm 1300 exp into a Gand Findsman with Force Powers and a focus on ranged combat. I opened up on a group of experienced Storm Troopers recently. My pool was IIRC 4 yellow, 2 green, 3 force, 5 blue versus 2 red and 2 purple (I removed a bunch of black with talents). think I hit 5 times with my pool doing 26 damage, 21 damage, 21 damage, 21 damage and 21 damage. No character can take damage like that.

The only good news is you are unlikely to die, but crits resulting in limb replacement can be pretty common.

It was particularly a problem in Starship combat where your ships get crippled incredibly fast. We switched over the Emperor Norton's starship combat rules, where shields become soak like Parry and Deflect fuelled by your ships strain. I suppose you could mod rules where in cover you can use an option like Deflect where you take some strain to reduce the damage by the quality of the cover.

That's 130 sessions at 10 exp a session. We've been playing since EoE came out. But the issues of offense outstripping defense exist at the lower levels and only get worse as time goes on.

This is extremely high level lol

EDIT: also an embarrassingly low amount of damage for that xp if im going to be honest but its always a good reminder that the autofire quality is the bestest.

At about 300 exp, we looked at how the offence was going and made a conscious decision to diversify our portfolios rather than doubling down on a single build point. Anything the GM had to hombrew up that I couldn't kill with my current offence was likely to be immune to the other half of the party, so we went into other trees and force powers to cover a wider range of situations. We're still ludicrously specialised, but at least we can all do 3 or 4 things really well now.

But yeah for ranged its

Autofire≥Dual Wield≥Single shot.

Force powers become op but it’s eventually (150-300 exp), you can play a Warrior: Shi-Cho Knight, be high brawn, dip into a tree with reflect later and be incredibly hard to hurt, start with 6 soak, rapidly pick up more plus Parry and Reflect from that second tree and just get better and better. Intelligence or Willpower are a useful secondary stat to pick up for better skills or useful offensive force powers but you can just do Brawn and some utility from powers like Sense. The big trick is to get a way to convert your force dice into better attack rolls, you can do that with Sense, Battle Meditation or an alternate lightsaber form tree but that means attacking with a different stat plus force dice.

Simple build is as much Brawn as you can afford (you can do 5 but it’ll leave you hyper focused on combat), pick another stat to increase to 3 or 4 if you prefer. Put skills wherever but grab 2 lightsaber if possible. Then grab 2 soak armour and a lightsaber if your GM allows it.

Amusingly FFG has also announced an Arkham Horror RPG.

They are one and the same, when Asmodee dismembered FFG, they sent all its RPG content to Edge to do with what they will. So Edge is doing the Arkham Horror RPG for FFG has no longer the tools to do so.

As far as I can tell, this is the first thing they've produced in like 5 years.

They did Adventures in Rokugan, a 5E D&D mod of L5R best described as Kevin J. Anderson and Brian Herbert present Legend of the Five Rings.
