Serious post: Although the jury of history sometimes takes a long time to deliberate, historians will probably judge the 1990s as one of the most pleasant times to live in the United States. Between about World War I and now, the only times that the United States didn't face either a) external war, or threat of war or b) economic crisis or other domestic disturbance or c) both was between...1920 and 1929, and between 1992 and 2001. And on top of the economic prosperity and lack of conflict, the 1990s were also a time when there was a lot of culture to choose from, and people's minds were really getting opened. It really was incredible when we went from "computers are monochrome boxes that you might have if you are rich, and you can play a few games on them" to "everyone in the world can use the internet!", and to do it in six or seven years. I mean, the difference between the internet of 1992 and 1998 was incredible. So yeah, the 1990s were pretty awesome.

BigBoss posted:No, he's right. The fashion of 2014 isn't radically different from 1999 in the same way clothes from 1974 were radically different from 1959. There have been minor changes, but most things normal people wear day to day are pretty similar over the past 15 years. It is true! Like, when you look at pictures of people from the 1990s, the clothing look a little different, but at no point will you be saying "how could anyone ever wear that?" And the ridiculous examples we have of fashion from the 90s and 00s were usually people who were involved in a ridiculous subculture at the time.
