If I remember the game correctly, the first parts of the little bios he's reading for each character on the Omega Factor screen is actually in-game text. He's then transitioning to his own commentary, which isn't always an obvious break. This is a stunning LP so far, by the way.

I remember coming to the Pero realization myself having read that volume of the manga before my first viewing of Metropolis. It was definitely a "whoa!" moment. For some reason I always analogize Shunsaku Ban to Scrooge McDuck it terms of his place in the popular comics culture. The same kind of crotchety, loving bluster, paired with the willingness and ability to totally throw down on a motherfucker when necessary.
