Alabaster was a fascinating but frustrating read... And I guess I could call that a thing in Tezuka's works from around those years.
Almost all the characters have light in them, potential for good. But that gets stomped out violently in a way that there's really no return.
Alabaster himself is painfully tragic. You can't help but feel horrible about his plight, but his reaction to the mockery and discrimination is just way too much, specially after getting his personal revenge. He reminds me a bit of M's Yuki, but more conciously spiteful.
And yes, Rock in Alabaster is a straight up monster on the side of "justice". His greek genes give him the classic ideal of beauty, so everybody else is inferior! Eesh.
