The Sharmat posted:this should have been an option in SC2 yeah. it's a fun game and you can skip nearly all the story, which i highly recommend doing. after you beat act 5 once you unlock "adventure mode" which basically breaks the game up by act and gives you 5 quests to do per act. you can do them in any order and they give you gold/exp as well as keys for rifts (randomly generated dungeons that have increased legendary droprate) and currency for gambling. doing all 5 in one sitting gets you a goodie box that can contain special legendaries. adventure mode is way better than the story and there's basically no reason to do anything aside from it once you unlock it

Honestly, I want to love Diablo 3 but I compare it to Gauntlet Legends on the N64 for a number of reasons. Limited number of skills per class with no real impact or build potential, arcade style hack n' slash that really doesn't involve a lot of strategy or thinking(let's face it, some packs in Diablo II were stupidly hard to handle), and if you were to move the equipment drops to a shop NPC, you'd have Gauntlet Legends. Let's not forget the hilarious cartoon villains in both games. I'm not one of those nerds that immortalizes Diablo II as "teh best ARPG ever zomg why didn't Blizzard just do an HD remake of it", but I would have liked the game to at least have a similar feel, but I can't even garner that from it. So almost kinda what the d2 expansion gave us minus a class but plus a full game mode with many new items and such.

I pre-ordered the expansion digitally, played it at its 10:00PM CST launch time, and beat it by 5:00am, no rushing or skipping side-areas. So for me it took 7 hours with a pre-existing level 60 character on Hard, since you have to lower the difficulty progressively. Mobs get harder and harder to beat if you begin on Torment I or Master and you eventually need to tone it down. edit: I didn't fill out my map for each area though, I wasn't going for some kind of insignificant full-map clear playthrough or anything. All 4 of these cannot share anything with each other so You start from scratch with Normal or Hardcore season and your paragon levels don't even transfer over. When the season is over your Guy becomes a regular normal or hardcore character and you cannot re-use them for next season. Any paragon experience rolls over when the season ends but not the levels. So if your Normal guy is Paragon 200 and your Season guy is Paragon 30 you don't get 30 levels, you get the experience of the 30 levels added to your non-season paragon total. make diablo III free to play imo

this thread implies there was a time when diablo 3 was not hosed up which is misleading. the combat is good if you like pretty lights, treating every encounter the same, and pressing buttons i guess. play path of exile instead.
