I know everyone is mad at the civs for bragging about it but you know what was weird? the other day when my boss said "hey do you need any overtime to get anything done?" and I said "nah I'm good next week" and she said "cool, let me know if anything changes" also the fact that I get paid for it now changes a lot

Wingnut Ninja posted:So, for a normal change of command, they usually make a big ceremony out of it (at least ashore), where the outgoing and incoming COs read their orders and give speeches and there's cake and all that. What do they do in cases like this? Do it at morning quarters? All hands email? Not say anything and suddenly there's just the deputy commodore up there driving the boat one day? Note it in the log, pass it at quarters that the people were relieved, and then pretend like it didn't happen and go nuts when the spouse association starts posting random details from whatever incident started all of it

does the reserve tricare work like prime remote where you get to see real doctors or does it mean a trip to the local mtf every time? cuz maybe it's me but that's not really worth $200/mo then again my employer subsidizes a lot of my healthcare so w/e

KetTarma posted:You're paid strictly by the number of hours you spend drilling. The biggest unit at my Reserve center does 4 musters per day to make sure that everyone is still there. I'm not exaggerating. Morning muster, pre-lunch, post-lunch, end-of-day. so typical HMO + you'll be seen by a corpsman not anyone actually qualified to see someone. so in the real world for $200/mo you can probably get at least slightly better than that and have the bonus of continuity of care and not being told you're making poo poo up. not trying to poo poo on the reserves specifically, but I wouldn't use tricare STANDARD as a selling point there, bud
