I'm imagining people in their mid-twenties laughing aloud at the silly bacon minecraft guy who is visibly miserable as he forces laughter through the seventh hour of his nightly stream. Or maybe watching minecraftbacon is more of a subdued, relaxing experience, since i've seen different people in different places say they drift to sleep listening to his sweet voice on a regular basis

if you're bad at games my advise is to play retro games or something obscure that you're good at because there is probably surprisingly an audience for this because people are more likely to search for some bullshit game on twitch, than they are to goto the 40th page on whatever game is trending.

Engage your chat: Give them a reason to stick around and be active, more viewers means higher results if you are playing a game with enough streams live that someone needs to scroll down. Don't, however, try to do this by watching the joins in an IRC client and saying hi to people who haven't said anything yet, that's just creepy. One of my favorite streamers would just keep asking his chat what their favorite kind of whatever was, then go off talking about their responses. Great way to both increase your interaction and keep dead air to a minimum. You're going to want to find a user who's SN makes it obvious they're female (bonus points if they use their legal name as part of it) and make them mod to encourage a hugbox in the chat. The more people feel like your part of their support network the more likely they are to donate to you. thats about all the words I feeling like typing for now maybe I'll post more later

Internet pan handling is a lot more work than writing a sign that says "homeless vet anything helps god bless" and hoping no one asks to see proof.

They only have like 8 seconds of delay caused almost entirely by latency whereas twitch's tech means you're never going to be better than 45 seconds behind live. No one cares for e-sports but it's really a lot nicer to have no delay for small gathering type things.

streaming is fun as heck. i have been streaming a modded fallout3 as an angry laser loving well endowed woman who wears cool outfits, has a no nonsense haircut and gets loving killed constantly due to martigen mutant mod and increased spawns. at one point i had 5 viewers for like ten minutes. a good day
