I liked the shotgun upgrades since there was one that lets you fire infinite shots in bullet time without reloading. Get akimbo sawed-offs, press mouse2 and let rip.

I also had trouble with the showdowns first, but basically just worry about keeping the reticule on the dude and press a and d occasionally to keep your hand aligned to the gun. Usually you have to press a a bunch at the start to get the hand somewhere near the gun but after that you can mostly forget about it.

When it's time to draw, don't shoot too early or you miss. After you've drawn, wait for the aiming reticule to appear first. If you worry about the other dude hitting you, you can press a and d to dodge, just like in those last breath dodges. You just have to time the dodge right. Dodge too early and it won't work.

It's a cool game and I like how the storytelling aspect is used in the levels when the others call the guy out on his bullshit. The artwork is a bit busy and colourful, but the bullet time highlights enemies so you can quickly flash that to pick out targets and then take them out in real time if you're low on the bullet time.

Edit: Q, not mouse2. Thinking of Max Payne there.
