The game gets released on October 2nd here in Germany because the 3rd is our national holiday and I was supersmug about getting it first until I found out Japan gets it next week already. Goddammit Axis, you're supposed to stick together!

Has there been any mention of 3DS community support and having friend lists or other means of easily connecting with people you know to have matches with? I know there's the For Fun/For Glory thing but it's my understanding that that's un & ranked quickplay with strangers. Is there information on something like Animal Crossing's Best Friends vs. Regular Friends designation, something like Steam groups or are you always going to be pulling from your entire friend list?

I don't get why Smash doesn't just go to the Solo/Group/Custom screen. Games & More could just be replaced with the Vault and Options buttons. It seems weird to me that the main game modes are tucked away in what looks like an Extras section Edit: I guess the idea is supposed to be that Smash 4 3DS will primarily be single player, since there are a lot of times where you will not be around anyone else who has a 3DS and Smash Bros at the same time. So there are two giant buttons on the main menu that let you quickly get into a game against computers, one for Smashes and one for Smash Run. I guess it's alright? So, a final smash that drastically reduces the number of Waddle Dees on screen, a B move changed so there's no Waddle Dees on the battlefield. Maybe Sakurai's hinting at us that he decided to Free the Dee

Jesus, this is the worst UI I've ever seen. Can you do Smash Run online? How would you access that? If I want to do Home Run Contest, why do I have to go 4 menus deep? Why doesn't the Challenge icon have an outline? Why split up the multiplayer content all over? Why is the Options menu 2 menus deep? Why isn't the main menu remotely organized? Why does the font on the selections keep changing between black and white? Why are some of the selections randomly small icons with their name on a black bar? Why do Streetpass and Wii U share a bar? This whole thing was made by a 3-year-old scribbling on notebook paper.
