I have always thought that this was deliberate, given that this is basically YouTube the Anime. I figured its target audience was 11 year old YouTube addicts. Which is why it feels like they lifted the script from a Disney high school drama.

I have recently both watched some of RWBY and been trapped in a waiting room with someones 2.5 kids watching what I determined to be Saved by the Bell, Incredibles edition. The dialog, interaction, and drama points where so similar, their is no way that whoever is involved with RWBYs script doesn't know they are making That's so Raven the anime.
