Now some people are saying that the 6 Plus has 2GB of ram while the regular 6 only has 1GB. http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_6_plus-6665.php Which could be especially if it has a better chip with higher thermal specs, that was supposed to be used for something like the next ipad.

Happy Noodle Boy posted:Non iPhone 6 question: how does Apple handle warranties on replacement units? I had my out of warranty iPhone 5 replaced about 2 months ago (swollen battery). The replacement unit had been working perfectly until last night when some of the screen's touch sensor decided to die. There's an area, about the top fifth of the screen, that simply does whatever the gently caress it wants. Here's a dumb example of the only way I can show it using Notability Try doing the test again while you are sitting on the bed with the phone unplugged and report back.

Happy Noodle Boy posted:I couldn't pin what was causing it. I restored the phone and ran a clean install all day and it would work for an hour then freak out every now and then. I took it to an Apple Store and had it looked at. They managed to replicate it when I checked in but the specialists couldn't get it to do it. At least one of them got to see it so I got a screen replacement for free even though it was out of warranty yet again. I've seen it before when the phone was charging with a badly grounded charger that's terrible and cheap. But I guess it's probably not that if you could do it in the store.

Star War Sex Parrot posted:I suppose the test for VoLTE would be just to make a call and see if it drops to 3G, and then maybe for kicks try to use data while on the call. Cool. Seems like data works just fine when you make a VoLTE call edit: as long as when you make the call you are on LTE, the other side can be on landline or whatever and it would still do VoLTE DaNzA fucked around with this message at 21:57 on Sep 19, 2014 |

Hopefully you got a good iPad charger instead iphone charger http://www.righto.com/2012/05/apple-iphone-charger-teardown-quality.html ipad charger http://www.righto.com/2014/05/a-look-inside-ipad-chargers-pricey.html compared with other chargers http://www.righto.com/2012/10/a-dozen-usb-chargers-in-lab-apple-is.html I'd charge it with the original iphone charger just so the battery can be charged at a lower voltage. Or using a grounded ipad charger (using the 3 prong macbook charging extension cord).

Feenix posted:Just a stab... this maybe? You can check if your phone is using TLC or MLC by running this link in mobile safari and install a thing and go into " 「 N61AP 」(really bottom, your device),「 AppleARMPE 」 -> 「 arm-io 」 -> 「 AppleT7000IO 」 -> 「 ans 」 -> 「 AppleA7IOPV1 」 -> 「 AppleCSI 」 -> 「 asp 」 -> 「 ASPStorage 」。" The 'default bits per cell' variable shows MLC as 2 and TLC as 3. Edit: if you are paranoid, turn on airplane mode when you launch the app and delete the app after you are done checking. DaNzA fucked around with this message at 11:57 on Nov 13, 2014 |

So guys how do you make sure the good money you've paid for an iPhone 6/6 plus 64GB will get you a MLC version instead of the cheap garbage that's the TLC? http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1814340&page=16 Seems like some people are having problems with crashy iPhone 6/6 Plus due to TLC NAND. A lot of people are having no problem at all and then crashing a ton the next. The funniest thing is that TLC is used only in some 64GB and all of the 128GB version. Some of the 64GB version is tested to have the old and more reliable MLC too. Should I just keep on buy/return till I get a better MLC version instead of sticking with TLC with like 1/4 the storage lifespan? DaNzA fucked around with this message at 14:23 on Nov 18, 2014 |

Flash Gordon Ramsay posted:Hahaha what now Whirlwind Jones posted:If you phone doesn't work take it to Apple and get a new one. If your phone works keep it and use it. That's the thing though, the TLC memory with a shorter lifespan (around 1/4~1/3 of MLC that was used before) won't die immediately so people are most likely to not notice the defect till it's too late and out of the 1 year warranty period.
