Can you get an AppleCare swap at 23 months if your battery capacity falls below 80% or something?

That's almost a guaranteed fresh phone in two years if you're not inclined to upgrade by then.

If I drop it, that's an accident swap. Hardware failure doesn't have a deductible, right?

Nope.. what worked for me was getting apple's old to new adapter that has a short cable (like 4 inches) on it. Their price for the adapter is absurd but it works, just lay the phone down next to the alarm clock.

If it makes you feel better about the price, that adapter has an audio DAC and circuitry to translate iPod controls jammed inside, since Lightning carries no analog audio.

Reporting on my purchase: the Monoprice $6 polycarbonate case is slim, but feels solid. Good fit and good cutouts.

I think I'd prefer something with a bit of a raised lip so I could place the phone screen-down without the glass touching a table, but this thing retains that nice rounded glass feel.

Wait till he blows his AppleCare on minor scratches then actually breaks it.

Your warranty with Apple is separate from your cell carrier.

The only caveat: if you intend to apply for a carrier unlock on your old phone, do it before you get a warranty swap to avoid extra hassle with the device ID not matching.

So updating to 8.1 flips the wifi calling setting off. I assume so you can try out Call Handoff since the two features don't work concurrently?

Cool, except now wifi calling won't re-enable. Flipping the setting goes to an error page no matter what I try.

I was looking forward to having wifi so calls and texts would actually work at the World Series tonight. Nope.

It would be really cool if there was a setting so wifi calling is enabled only when cellular service is unavailable.

That way I could still use call handoff when I'm at home with good LTE and wifi available, without having to dig into settings to disable wifi calling.

It doesn't seem that that would be difficult to implement.

In my car I have an old Belkin 30-pin charger that has a mini-jack output and play/pause/track controls on the face of the cig lighter plug.

It's a clean way to do a single wire connection tidy with a hardwire aux-in and the buttons eliminate some fumbling with the phone while driving.

Does anything similar exist for Lightning or has the DAC circuitry required scared off accessory makers?

Not sure if this is the right thread, but figured you guys would know the answer.

I'm going on a snowboarding trip soon and plan on keeping my iPhone in a sealed waterproof case (works with a stylus so I don't need to take my gloves off). However, I figured I'd probably want to be listening to some music or podcasts while on the slopes so I want to find a way to get my headphones working with a bluetooth receiver. I would just buy some bluetooth headphones, but EarPods are the only headphones I've ever found comfortable in my ears. Can anyone recommend a relatively cheap (and available in the UK) bluetooth receiver that'll let me do this? Also, can anyone vouch for the battery life of an iPhone 6 sending out audio over bluetooth for long periods of time? I'd have airplane mode on the whole time (or at least mobile data and wifi switched off, since having GPS on probably wouldn't hurt) so I'll be saving a lot of battery that way.

I use a Sony SBH20 at the gym so I'm not tethered to my phone on the treadmill. It works.

I had it on, but started using too much data and now I can't find the switch. Anywhere. I've been looking for weeks.

I found the "what apps can use data" page in the cellular settings and turned that off for the podcasts app, but now I'm getting constant data errors, I assume as Podcasts tries to use cellular but is stopped by the OS.

The elago Glide is pretty thin and fits really well. The matte "soft" colors are grippy.

I had the elago Slimfit2 before the Glide finally came out, but I prefer the way slider cases wrap the screen a bit. I had a Glide on my 4-then-4S for three years and it held up well.
