Does anyone's iPhone actually use more than a 1GB of Ram?

Is there a need for more than a gig of ram on iPhone? How much of a need?

I'm more concerned about battery life than anything else, it needs to last at least two days with moderate use.

I played with the iPhone 6 at store and it's just too big.

Sure, it's a cool phone but I can't comfortably reach the top row of buttons with just one hand. The second row is acceptable but if throw a case into the mix then it's complicated. It also just feels a little fragile compared to the 5 given how it's so thin and weighs next to nothing.

They should have left the size of the iPhone 5 alone or maybe a tad bigger and then put out their phabelt model but I guess the days of one-handed phones are dead. Steve Jobs is undoubtedly rolling in his grave.

Why are you guys spending $1000 on a smart phone if you just want a lovely texting brickphone?

Most people use their screens and therefore benefit from larger screens.

Because I don't need a massive screen for texting, calling and occasionally reading SomethingAwful.

Smaller Android phones are just too cut down.

That would make sense since the 6 is not really any faster than the 5S (and I believe the new iTouch is actually slower?)

The iPhone 5S has the Apple A7 SoC and the iPhone 6 has the Apple A8. It appears the CPU internals are the same but it goes from a PowerVR G6430 to a PowerVR Series 6XT GX6450.

Which I suppose means something?

It's rumored to have the same internals as the iPhone 6S. That's just a standard phone but in the typical 4" Form Factor.

It it does everything it's claim but pre-ordering day one. My 5S still works but after having 3 screen replacements it's starting to fall apart.

Has anyone left the small iPhone bandwagon? My iPhone 5SE is dying and I'm debating if it's just time to give up for a larger phone. I'm thinking of just buying the iPhone 7 straight up with the $80 trade-in as the other models don't really have that much more to offer or I simply can't justify the cost for even the iPhone 8.

Not a bad thought, but counterpoint: the iPhone 7 has had issues with losing the ability to connect to a cell tower, and once that happens you have to replace it. I think with new in box they’ve fixed it, I’ve been seeing less of them come in, but I wouldn’t risk buying a 7.

The price difference on 7 vs 8 is pretty minute, especially if you need more than 32GB (which is recommended for anyone at this point).

Could you expand on the first point?

On the flip side, the iPhone 8 is another $150 plus I'll need Applecare too.

On a completely unrelated note, how much storage on my Iphone 5SE should be in other? I have maybe 2/3s in it? Should I just re-install iOS entirely?

iPhone 5SE to iPhone 8 verdict...

It is kind of annoying to have such large device that's kind of requires two hands but it's not nearly as bad as I anticipated. On the flip side, the screen is freaking great and I understand folks being consumed by their phones. If my iPhone has two or three bars but constantly spins when trying to load whatever website, application or even crashes with a message there’s no internet connectivity - despite being on LTE.

Is this the provider? I rarely had this problem with Verizon and recently switched to T-Mobil on a new iPhone 8.

"Bars" are only a single metric of cell signal performance. The tower you're connected to could be congested, or the fact that T-Mobile signals often struggle indoors unless you have a phone that supports a newer lower band like Band 71 (which the iPhone 8 does not.)

What about T-Mobile is bad for indoor performance?

Probably less of a concern for T-Mobile cause their threshold is like 50 gigs for deprioritization and unless the other goon was on prepaid or something he should have priority.

T-Mobile is just janky. Does have some poor cell service quality I’ve noticed but I’m on wifi most of the time and it’s cheap as hell so I’m not going to complain about it.

I flipped to T-Mobil but as someone who travels all the time for work it’s just not that great.

Who has the absolute best coverage? Verizon or ATT?
