Flew out to the Gathering of the Classics at the Edenvale airport yesterday. Had a fun time in formation with a 172 the whole way.

A very nice event lots of interesting old planes and cars. A few old warbirds and a helicopter were taking up passengers the whole day.

A buddy of mine came really close to having a very bad day at the event.

That is the strut on his Cubs gear leg. Nothing but a bit of paint holding it together.

Got a bit of hangar space and held the wing up to remove the failed part. Should be able to get a replacement in a few days.

It would also get rid of the need to have a functioning autopilot.

Didn't know that was a thing but apparently it is mandatory for commercial single pilot operations.

Buddy might have written off his T18 today.

Had an engine failure out of glding range to the airport and put it in a field.

Ending up flipping over on its back but he got out without injury.

406 ELT did it's job so an ambulance were on scene pretty quick.

Just got home from picking him up. I'm surprised he was so eager to get back into a plane after that.

It happened quite a while ago. Hospital took a bunch of x rays and did some blood tests said he was fine.

The canopy hoop was slightly crushed so it adsorbed most of the impact.

Unless your aircraft has only one seat, in which case good luck to you.

This is surprisingly less difficult that you would imagine.

Don't forget to check out the home built thread also, though it's not very active.

You guys need to do more building so there is more content.

I really do need to get started on that motor.

The S20 looks nice.

I just found a PDF of the appropriate POH and keep it in ibooks.

You can keep PDF's in Foreflight as well but I find it easier to keep them separate.

EDIT: They may have been below half when they landed, which means no re-taking off

That has to be a stupid school policy right?

What do they do if someone wants to fly with four people on board and requests half tanks?
