I don't get why people kept saying God Hand had ugly levels. I guess the graphics werent that impressive or whatever, but as far as i can remember basically nobody around that time was doing the cool wild west/vegas motifs that it has going on.

it has ugly levels because the game looks gross as hell with its washed up color palette and the fact you can literally see pixels coming off of everything, even the characters it's still fantastic despite that though

I liked that the camera was locked behind Gene and even clipped through walls. It was still the era of game makers not knowing how to keep a 3d camera from getting stuck behind objects so having one that doesn't give a poo poo was nice.

God Hand basics: - You can cancel the animation of all but a handful of your moves with a dodge. - When in doubt, duck dodge. Try to remember things that you can't duck dodge and sidestep/backflip instead. - Taunt enemies to draw them to you. Or just to hear Gene's goofy laugh. - There's a bunch of moves you always have which are activated by certain simple button combinations in the correct context. Use them and love them. - When the game tells you to mash a button (such as during a pummel) you can push any face button after activating the move with Circle. Your free moves get stronger after each chapter. If you get a button icon pop-up for stuff like pummeling or spanking, mash ALL four buttons for extra damage. That scissor kick free move never works on barbarian women. The cheap casino slots won't rip you off. Duck cancel to quickly end lengthy attack animations. Enemy attack animations might be counter-intuitively dodged with ducks or sidesteps. You can prep additional attacks during an attack animation and skip some inputs.

I played this game last night as promised. It was good. I would have paid more for it but it was definitely worth $10. I died twice on the intro level, once to each of the two demons because I did not expect them. I died once on the level after that on the bridge because I did not realize you could kick the fat guys off it into the distance when I first tried it. My girlfriend laughed every time I did the stomp move. I changed my combo to jab > right hook > uppercut > spinny back-hand and didnt change any of the triangle, X, or down button moves but there weren't many options in the store yet to buy. I only played it for an hour but that was long enough to give my review score of godhand out of 10.

The stomp move is kind of a trap in that you should never use it unless it will finish off an enemy, since it doesn't give you invulnerability like every other "Press O" move.
