A muscle car is a mid-size with the big engine (which is usually reserved for the full-size), and a pony car is a compact with a bigger engine (doesn't have to be the biggest, 289 Mustangs are pretty cool, but bigger than compacts usually get). The Challenger has and always will be a GT car. The first gen even had a longer wheelbase than the 'Cuda
