Whoever asked for an imgur app on the last thread: imgur browser is decent. You have to be signed in to upload and it's a bit unintuitive (you have to open the menu and tap your username, then the upload cloud on the top right) but it's the best one I found, or rather, the only one that isn's complete poo poo as far as I know.

Gonna recommend Day One because it's the best journal app out there (trust me, I tried literally all of them). There's a Mac app, too, and if you happen to have Hazel, you can set it up to automatically create entries from your social network posts.

Yeah, uh, it keeps bouncing me back and forth between the app and the site to get the language courses added on and the site doesnt load properly on a phone. I haven't used it in a while, sorry it's messed up. I was gonna suggest Duolingo but it doesn't have Thai which is what I'm assuming you're wanting to learn...

Yeah Weather Underground is awesome. The nearest WU weather station is literally across the street from my house. Doesn't get any better than that. Even forecast.io which is supposed to be hyper local can't beat WU for me.

Unfortunately a lot of devs choose OpenWeatherMap because it's free. And then of course, you get what you pay for...

And really, the answer for the next six months is going to be either "Yes, the thin one." Or, "No, the loving thick rear end one so that you don't succumb to exposure at the bus stop."
Where I live, at this time of year it's not uncommon to be in the mid 80s during the day and then drop to ~50 in the evening. 40s in the early morning, then maybe back up to 80 again but who knows. It's constantly changing. The default weather app -- and pretty much anything that isn't Weather Underground -- is always off by 5 degrees or so for my location, constantly says it's going to rain and then it doesn't (or the other way around) and so on. Considering the fact that I'm a small person with a small purse I'd like to know in advance if I'm going to have to carry a jacket/umbrella or not.

It's really not that hard to understand. Seriously. Just because a thing doesn't apply to you doesn't mean it's stupid/spergy/whatever.

Is there any app that has permissions to delete iOS photos? I want screenshots to delete themselves after a certain amount of time, since I have an unhealthy obsession with screenshotting terrible Facebook posts to show my friends. I have an IFTTT recipe that puts them all into a separate folder, so I can just go in and delete them all in one go, but it doesn't always work.

This is not possible in iOS. Third party apps just can't do stuff like that.

As of ios 8 that's incorrect, Apple added a delete photo API. https://developer.apple.com/library...t/deleteAssets:

Is there an intermediary app out there which handles auto-backups of photos to my google drive better than the G+ app? On android it was great about auto-backups whenever I took a photo but despite auto-backup being turned on in the G+ app on the iPhone 6+ I find myself having to open the app and browse to the G+ photos > Camera Roll page before it begins to back them up.

This is my biggest annoyance with iOS and there's no way to make it work like Android. Nothing can run in the background. No matter which app you use, it'll not upload unless the app is open and will pause uploads after a few minutes if you close the app.

Every time I see this

I just want to scream.

Now mind you, lots of apps say they do this. Flickr, Dropbox, Google+ etc. None of them actually do it, not the way it works on Android, and it's unreliable at best. I have lost photos before because I thought they were being uploaded so I deleted them off my phone, and it turns out the upload had been paused hours before.

The only way to get true background uploading for your photos is to use iCloud. There is no other option.

I forgot to mention that SwiftKey is my only keyboard. That might be the reason why I'm not having any problems with it. When I had the default keyboard installed along with it, this happened all the time. So I uninstalled it and kept just SwiftKey.

Is there a newer app which does the same thing?

You could always just use Feedly.

This should be relevant to all you Camera + downloaders. I just got an update for the app that has descriptions about an ultra high resolution TIFF mode that takes up way more space per picture but is good for the really great pictures you want to take. i'm sure they're not liars, but I found it interesting that such a thing existed as part of the camera API or whatever. Do you know if this is really possible or they be bullshitting?

It's really possible, other camera apps do it (and have been doing it for a long time). Hueless and ProCam come to mind but I'm sure there are others.

I just want to chime in and agree with everything you've said here, I've purchased every add-on to Hipstamatic and will continue do so, they far-and-away have the best "hipster" filters for iOS. Some of their best paks are very subtle, you wouldn't suspect they came from that app. Unfortunately it seems like they've been kind of overtaken by these do-everything apps that add cheap, obvious filters.

Yeah Hipstamatic is fantastic. I have every hipstapak too. Sometimes I like to just shake my phone and shoot, just for the fun of it.

You guys really ought to check our Oggl if you like Hipstamatic. It's like Instagram but better. Way better. It has literally zero spam and the content is of much higher quality, and it lets you edit existing photos with your hipstapaks. It's awesome.

If they're making a new app, they can make it free &limited in some way, with IAPs to unlock full functionality. This "Buy before you try" crap in the app store has funded countless poo poo developers for too long.

Google Play has a much better system for this sort of situation. After you buy an app, the "buy" button turns into a "refund" button for 15 minutes. You can essentially return the app if you don't like it, as long as it's within that 15 minute window. I think it's fantastic and I really wish Apple would do something similar.

I don't have a problem with developers charging for apps and upgrades -- they have to earn a living after all, and most apps are really cheap. That said, I do wish there was some sort of trial system in the App Store.

Google increased the Refund Window to 2 hours earlier this year.

That's awesome. It's one of the things that Google does better imo. It's just so simple.

I know, but I was talking about Google's system being better for "trial" situations where there is no free or "lite" version of an app available. With Google's system you buy the app, try it, and then if you don't like it you just press the "refund" button and that's it. There's no step two, the app just gets uninstalled from your phone and the money is returned to you as long as you do it in that 2 hour window.

The Apple system requires that you contact them and explain why you want a refund and then it takes like a day or two. You can also request a refund for any app for any time from Google, but that process is more involved (like Apple's).
