I'm just getting back into this. How do you recruit informants? I can see the CI view under contraband but I'm not sure what to do next. It mentions having a prisoner under duress so I assume I need something to happen to the prisoner first?

Seems like the fairest way to assign the value of a prisoner is not to tie it to their security class but to the type of crimes they have committed.

The game's awesome but it seriously needs gangs and death row. Death row guys should be the most hardcore since they have committed the most disgusting crimes and have nothing to lose. I know in real life a large amount of people on death row seem to settle down, be peaceful and other stuff but that would be boring for gameplay.

I'm anti-death penalty but I really really want to try out that electric chair in the game as well.

Surprisingly he's been convicted of multiple charges of rape. voyeurism and gross indecency without being a user submitted prisoner. I didn't think the game automatically generated those types of prisoner.

I'm pretty sure the rap sheets on user made prisoners are always randomly generated since they rarely match up to the bios

There's a list of user generated prisoners under extras. He doesn't appear to be in it.

After his first stint in solitary he immediately pulled a knife on the guard escorting him out of the cell. He did that twice before I thought about searching him and confiscating it. He's back out in general pop now and he's killed another three guards. I don't mind since it's a deliberately lovely prison. One toilet, one big holding cell and continuous intake.

Edit: And another two.

In a totally unrelated incident my power generator exploded for some reason. Taking out the large chunk of my admin building and bit of the holding cell building. Luckily chain fences are unaffected by explosions and fire or otherwise I would have had a mass escape on my hands. 50+ hours in this game and it's my first time actually seeing a fire happen. I'm not going to repair anything though. A smokey pit is just the perfect look for my prison.

My legendary prisoner is up to about 15 murders at this point.

Edit: Figured out what caused the explosion. I originally had my regime set to continuous lock-down. I later changed it to free-time. Early on in the build however I had completed the grant that requires you to build a shower. I was lazy and built the shower head in an outdoors utility area. In between the pump and the generator. So in free-time a prisoner will walk out to this shower, turn it on and as soon as the water hits the generator. Kablammo!

Reform scores shot the gently caress up for me after I fired the dudes toting shotguns. After Tazer Rollout (and the appropriate save file editing to get people certified, because the class was bugged to poo poo last time I tried it) normal guards can handle the occasional scuffle quickly and gently, and if your prison is more violent than that you've got some problems, at least if you're running the sort of prison where you give a poo poo about reform scores.

I spent the evening trying to figure out why my taser program failed to work. Guards would assemble and occasionally the chief would show up to teach but nothing would happen. In the end I solved it by extracting the reform_programs.txt file from the data files and modded it so the duration was doubled from one hours to two. I think allowing us to set the duration of classes would be a useful feature for the next alpha.

Seems like Scanner Sombre is the next game. Not sure sure what kind of game they can make out of that concept.
