a worthy uhh posted:Yeah, I didn't get as far into the plan as 'amenities'. It was more of a quick experiment to see if solo canteens was viable. Next round is going to be a real try. And that's going to all go in the Yard. They'll spend basically all day in the Yard minus Eat and Sleep. That way the staff can clean the cell/provide laundry without possibly crossing into the prisoner. They need to make a smaller serving table, that's what we are missing.

Pornographic Memory posted:That sounds pretty awesome, especially when it turns into an anticlimax five minutes later when they're forced to go through the metal detector to leave the workshop, have it confiscated, and it's thrown in the trash. Enchanted weapons shouldn't be so easily destroyed. Instead it is stolen by the guard for their own use.

Solartide posted:So I'm actually posting this from a supermax in our state, how customizable is the archtecture? The screenshots I'm seeing have only rectangular buildings, can I recreate my irregularly shaped prison in the game? Its a square grid so no curved walls but you place the foundation, walls, etc in whatever shapes you want.

Solartide posted:One more question- Nope but prisoners don't climb regular fences (but they dig under) so you can pretend they are lethal. This makes me want to have climbing fences be a thing. Let it freak the guards so if you try and climb out of the yard you're getting taken down before you make it off the fence, but if the guards aren't nearby...

super fart shooter posted:Well, there are a few issues that I've noticed... One is that once a prisoner enrolls in a reform program, they'll continue to attend sessions until the whole thing finishes. Even if you change their security level or schedule so that they don't have work at that time slot, they'll actually break regime and go to the program anyway. Also, prisoners will get referred into behavioral/substance abuse therapy programs even if they don't have time for it in their schedule, and again, they'll break regime to attend. I'm not sure if these are bugs or not, but there's nothing you can do to stop them. Another problem is that all prisoners are allowed to go to visitation if someone is there for them. Can you make them use a supermax only classroom/psych office?

Away all Goats posted:Grants. Open the reports folder and then the grants tab. Accept the 'Basic Detention Center' and 'Administration Center' grants and just follow those. Once you complete both you will have enough facilities to accept your first truckload of prisoners. Continue to complete the grants while you occasionally allow more prisoners into your prison. Remember you can completely turn off the flow of prisoners if you feel overwhelmed. Do this and get a psychologist so that you can look at the needs chart and use the needs chart to catch anything you've forgotten to provide.

I would love if checking the toilet during cell searches was something I could research, and the workers had to do it still.

ShootaBoy posted:So I just started playing again the other day, and the new traits got a couple of prisoners killed pretty much straight away, so my 73 days with no incidents bonus went out the window. In response I've built a max sec wing with its own yard and canteen, but the janitors refuse to bring any clothing to the 3 guys in there. Any ideas why and/or solutions? Only prisoners bring clothes if they are assigned to work the laundry. I'd give the max-sec some work time when everyone else is safely somewhere else.

cyclonic posted:If you sell your prison, does the game "retain" it in any way? I assume there's no sort of "trophy room" for prisons you've sold, but is there at least something saved so you can look at it later? For nostalgia or something. To look at old prisons and laugh at how bad they are. If you sell your prison you can keep playing it but you don't get to ever sell it again.

CrusherEAGLE posted:Should I start playing this now or wait for the game to be "released"? Sorry if this already has been answered. The game is fun and playable. If you're someone who can't stand bugs or only plays games for a while then never again, you might want to wait. Also I doubt the devs did any real prison stuff. They didn't do real nuclear stuff for DEFCON or real hacking for Uplink either. I wish they did, it would make for a humorous narrative arc.

CrusherEAGLE posted:Out of curiosity, what's the "Genre" called, exactly? I did an edit that kinda placed it as "build a base" but it could also be put in the tycoon genre or simulator genre. Its technically an RTS with time controls and the ability to issue orders while paused, but its not a traditional RTS by most means.
