I think it's pretty obvious that "The Man Who Saved Central City" is referring to Ronnie and his supposed sacrifice instead of Barry.

Pretty good way to introduce new Firestorm and put Caitlin down the path to becoming Killer Frost.

New actor confirmed on the show, but it's a spoiler character so click at your risk.

Man I hope Joe didn't tell Iris that her mother was dead because she's never going to trust him again with anything.

I mean, we already know that is the case with non-dead Wells

yeah, I don't think that character's adequately set up to be a villain right now. Introducing alternate versions of the same character makes way too much sense as a shortcut.

I'm happy that it seems like Victor Garber is staying around. One because they need a mission control / science mentor to replace Wells (though obviously it remains to be seen exactly what capacity he'll be appearing in this time round), and two because I just like Victor Garber.

it would take like seasons of character development to make that work believably any other way

If they did go this route, there's certainly potential. It was bad enough when someone could just imitate Barry, but someone who basically IS Caitlyn could allow for a lot of misdirection.

Is Legends not a more limited thing, though? I'd heard it was meant to have a sort of variable cast in each season (if it gets a second one) with heroes assembled according to the particular threat.

From the leaks it is not Jason as they already introduced him. It's a new character who will be a part of Legends of Tomorrow. This is probably so they don't have to pay royalties to the creator of Jason (Stuart Moore?) much like they changed Mr Terrific's name so they don't have to pay John Ostrander.

Al Milgrom and Gerry Conway created Killer Frost, who Caitlin is a later version of in the comics, but because Caitlin wasn't the alter-ego of their Killer Frost, they don't get credit. Caitlin was created by Sterling Gates and Derlis Santacruz as the new Killer Frost during the DC New 52 reboot, but because she's a version of Killer Frost (created by Milgrom and Conway), she's classed as derivative, and they don't get anything either. So she both IS derivative of Frost, and is a brand new character, depending on what is needed to screw someone out of royalty payments.
