Stalins Moustache posted:gently caress yeah! I'm a huge fan of the Birthday Massacre. Their new song "Beyond" is beautiful. I can't wait for their new album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3vi2Fsqlpg Birthday Massacre is great, but Birthday Party is better. Although they're closer to punk...they were from that weird period in the 80's where stuff was still really finding it's footings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgsJcZro7Yk. It's a Nick Cave project, which kinda explains everything right there, because Nick Cave has always been Nick Cave. I've also always loved Black Tape for a Blue Girl ever since I picked up a Projekt records sampler from Hot Topic back in the day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kf7_QrkPTDQ And I know there's the running joke with Voltaire, but his non-jokey stuff is not bad. Almost Human is still one of my fav albums. He definitely knows his audience way too well and hot drat, that man might as well have a steampunk printing press for all the money he rakes in. (and he's apparently an awesome prof too, a friend of mine wasn't an animation major but took his class at SVA in stop motion and hot drat, that guy is just super talented way way moreso in art than in music) E: ok, thanks to this thread checked Cruxshadows out again, Rogue's instagram is the most hilarious thing ever, because there's this guy with the big spiky hair, and the boots and the trenchcoat and the shades...with a 4 year old daughter who always seems to be dressed in something disney. And do y'all count Dresden Dolls in here? Amanda Palmer's solo stuff definitely strays further away from the goth/dark caberet type stuff, but the Dresden Dolls stuff you can hear the influences a lot more. She's absolutely insufferable since she hooked up with Neil Gaiman, but the dresden dolls stuff is still solid, and she's still a great performer.
