Apparently I bookmarked this thread some time ago with the intention of reading/contributing, but then it fell off my pages until this bump ha. Gone through it all ... huge fan of Floodland, early (and late) Cure, Birthday Massacre, Austra, etc. A couple favourites I haven't seen mentioned -- Ashbury Heights is synthpop-tinged, but lyrically goth as bats. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9NotAkibB2k https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXP5Z79HfdI The first and third albums, Three Cheers for the Newlydeads, and The Looking Glass society have a gothier sound. The second album, Take Cair Paramour, is super glassy happy-sounding synthpop, but still has songs like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYvzg6Y6Ma0 I love the disparity with the lyrics. The band had major record-label and personnel issues, but it's all resolved and they're steadily making music again. Din [a] Tod unfortunately around anymore. Kind of like sulky synth punk? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ep2nRLdlJ_E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HalbSKok6yg But they have 'nice' tracks like this too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPLK0ZXdxcY Of course there's the whole electro-industrial thing too which is usually veering into goth territory. teethgrinder fucked around with this message at 15:38 on May 24, 2016 |

Picnic Princess posted:Austra was posted before, and I recently discovered this song too. Worthy of a listen, I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXQmzzq8Nb4 I picked a bit more gothier song but the two albums are so loving solid. The first one even has a member of Austra on it.
