If then-billionaire Oliver Queen gave them money, that would've been totally legal, assuming they paid taxes on it. Oliver was publicly known as a billionaire, and they both had totally plausible explanations for why he'd have dropped money on them. The fact it's actually for "superhero support services rendered" wouldn't even need to enter the equation; the source of the money isn't illicit and their visible roles as his employees aren't suspicious. Though, the entire "Oliver is now poor" plotline is absurd. His family's money can't possibly only exist in some form wrapped up in Queen Consolidated, and even if it did, the company would have to have bought Oliver out to excise him from it; it can't just swallow his shares through CFO magic. Not to mention life insurance payouts from Robert and now Moira, and the money from liquidating the Queen's estate. It's hard to make billions disappear like that. The real reason he's poor is way cooler, though: hard to be a socialist superhero when you're a billionaire. The only trick-arrow he needs now is the Marxist dialectic arrow, to smash his enemies with the truth of proletarian struggle.

I actually suspect that Oliver & Thea aren't as poor as they believe. Right before Thea was to skip town Walter had an incoming call for her which never made it. I believe that ultimately Walter may have managed to save the family fortune but lose control of the company.

I've actually enjoyed when superhero comics have done the "Bruce Wayne is poor, for now" riff. No Man's Land was a solid two years of great Batman stories all based on the need to strip all of Batman's gadgets and resources away. Knowing Arrow though, the "Team Arrow is poor" stuff will last MAYBE three episodes before the major arcs start to kick in.

Well, according to Isabella, the rest of the company thought Felicity was banging Oliver so the bonus wouldn't seem that crazy. The previous seasons teasing the Olicity potential has got Felicity on the verge of turning into a hot version of Amy from The Big Bang Theory. They should switch the actresses one week and watch fandom implode.

Finances in film and television series drives me loving crazy. Like no one seems to fundamentally understand how just like a company works. Like at all. It's a corporation, if a corporation goes bankrupt, that does not mean you go bankrupt that's why it's a corporation to protect people's finances. Like seriously it's just dumb and drives me crazy. Yes, you would lose money if say you owned 100 percent of a companies stock, and you had no money in the bank whatsoever ,but seriously that's not how companies work. Ugh it drives me crazy.

Wasn't there some mumbo-jumbo about how all of the Queen trust funds were tied up with the company and Isabella did some shady poo poo to snatch all that away? Also, is Nyssa using al Ghul as her last name or are they sticking with Raatko? I don't recall hearing her last name in her few appearances in Season 2, specifically in the finale where she introduces herself to Felicity.

Chuck had their main character working at a generic Best Buy (despite a harvard degree and demonstrated genius-level intellect) by justifying it as a job he could easily leave at any time to go kick rear end. Flexibility in your schedule is essential if you're getting constant "I need you Felicity" texts from Team Arrow.

pfft...Best Buy. Their spin off [Canadian Future Shop] doesn't even CARRY the 2nd season of Arrow on Blu-Ray. I gotta order it online. Plus they've always got 10 persons per department standing around doing sweet F.A.! Oliver should just raise $1000, buy one and he could work in the appliances section and slip out the back whenever he wants to do anything. Future Shop is probably the actual cover story for most of the real life members of The Justice League [reporters, amazons and playboys not included].
