Hi my favorite shmups are R-type Delta, G Darius, and Gradius 5. Also i dont know if it counts, but i like that submarine game that the Metal Slug guys made first, and also Metal Slug.

You should play X-Out for the C64/Amiga because even though it's not a hard-as-gently caress bullet-frenzy it Ownz Bonez. It had a purchase system for power-ups and your extra lives were extra ships that you bought, and it was generally way ahead of other shooters of its time. Also the music was p. good.

Everyone in this thread needs to go download and play the Blue Wish games right loving now. It runs at a poo poo resolution because it's an ancient Japanese indie game but they're super good.
