Wiltons are usually overpriced, but they're still good of course.

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62716

I found a Record on craigslist for $45. Give CL a look by searching a couple old brand names. Do not buy a new vise, look for one as old and as heavy as you can find. And nobody on craigslist will spell it "vise" so search "vice" too.

I really like 3M's adhesive remover, but I think you have to be more cautious with it vs. goo gone for damaging paint (I still use it on painted stuff frequently). I'd just stick with heat and hope all the adhesive comes off with the sticker. If it ghosts a bit in that spot, just polish it and it won't be noticeable.

The 6.0 LQ9 in my lolEscalade is stupid. If you can get the transmission to hit it on boil, it'll hustle. There's also a chance that it'll not. Either way, a supercharger fixes that.

The nice thing about an old Escalade is that it's a big, dumb GM truck. It's not luxurious by any stretch, but it's filled with amenities and with a proper exhaust (I got mine for $200 on eBay), it sounds like absolute rumble-y tits.

Yep, these things are dead simple to work on by comparison to a DOHC V8, and make about the same power per displacement despite being an engine that's 50 years old with some updates :v:. But in that 50 years, there have been a lot of refinements and learnings built upon which is why it's so drat reliable.

Parts prices for GM stuff are hilariously low most of the time, and there are a billion of these drat things on the road. I'd bet they're cheaper and easier to find than the 'yota as well, but honestly I haven't looked.

Remind me what all you're planning with this again?

As for cleaning, everybody already said Simple Green. I don't have anything fancy so it's usually just that and a lot of rags. That engine looks pretty gunked up externally so maybe some engine degreaser wouldn't hurt as well.

$550 for a 5 angle valve job, hot tanking, crank/cam polish, water jacket replacement, and magnaflux. The valve job is half of that but the valve seats looked rough so I went for it.
