My god that young punk is insufferable. He fucks up his own work and has the balls to nab on someone else's failure. The way he talks is annoying too and at least one character in the show agrees with me.

I got a kick out of his delivery though. He almost sounds german yelling "PLEASE!" every few sentences. "SHOSHT!" ..."SHOSHT!"

Eeeyup. What a gently caress. I'll be interested to see what he kept trying to get Aoi's help with before he got distracted by his own inherent creepiness.

I like some of the smaller details they put in the episode. If you've ever been in a sound booth, the locks are tight and the doors are extremely heavy, so showing her struggle to get the door open was a nice touch. Plus, doing a first line read like that is often nerve-wracking, especially with that many people watching from the control room.

Yeah, Shizuka was really relatable this episode, I like her a lot so far.

Although, something came up that has me somewhat confused. When Aoi was watching home, she was singing that silly song about a hedgehog named Andes Chucky. Remember at the start of episode 2, when Aoi walked in on Segawa right after Segawa passed out? And there was this little cartoon vignette of a cartoon hedgehog named Chucky passed out on a snowy mountain? I'm...not sure what exactly it means, that Segawa passing out is apparently evocative of Aoi's old cartoons or something.

I'm pretty interested in how the college girl will break into the anime industry.

Also the girls' date is like, every young-adult-fresh-out-of-school date ever. And it's amazing how I could remember entire nights I've spent from that.

Aoi's phone call with her mom was really touching, too.

The characters aren't especially deep, but they're really well humanized. This show's been really charming so far, and that's a big reason why.

If I recall correctly, didn't one of the producers or creators say that Tarou was basically one of them when they were first starting out?

I sure hope they grew out of him, if that's the case. So far, Taro seems like Yosuke, only even more scatterbrained and ten years older so he can't use that as an excuse for being a creepy dumbass.

He basically said the wrong thing every time to maximize the troubles too.

Honestly. The whole situation could have been avoided even if all he had done was relay the exact same messages just without insulting the people he was speaking to like he did when he was all "ENDOU SAYS 3D IS DULL AND STUPID" or "HEY ENDOU THE AGE OF TRADITIONAL ANIMATION IS OVER". And then at the end Aoi's freaking out and all Taro can say is "well now you have to help me :smug:" like a little 3 year old. I hope the climax of the show is someone punching him the gently caress out.

That isn't even the worst part, even after Endou left all Tarou had to do was tell his bosses what happened so they can figure out what to do from there. Instead he calls Aoi because he's too worried about looking bad.

Plus, you know, he's kind of latched onto Aoi in a rather creepy fashion for the last episode or two even before this just to make this extra fun. Him weakly searching for compliments while begging for Aoi's help was all kinds of cringey.

Note that every scene where President brings in something he cooked the mood changes in such a way that things actually get done.

So does the president actually do jack poo poo on the show itself, or does he just run the financials and make sure everyone has delicious homecooked meals?

Also, a president who spends his time making delicious homecooked meals for his office is pretty cool.

I also liked that the method of getting him to animate the storyboards just involved cramming him in a makeshift prison cell. I am a little afraid to ask how true this is to the industry but it was pretty funny in anime form at least.

Boy, Aoi kind of did a lovely job cheering up Ema, didn't she? She didn't even mention that Segawa led off by basically saying "But Ema's art is usually so good that I was really shocked these came out bad" and just kind of let Ema jump from one miserable subject to another and convince herself that she's just the worst.

Helps that he's generally doing his job now. Not incredibly well or anything given the way everyone still talks about him, but no fuckups either. And hell, even when he did fuckup he at least had the good grace to act a little sheepish about it - new guy just actively doesn't give a poo poo.

Is it weird that I find this show...kind of theraputic? Like, it feels weird to get kind of a fundamental emotional reaction off of a show that doesn't...feel profound or game-changing or anything, but I dunno. Something about its fundamental optimism with regard to the daily grind combined with how cool all the characters are make it kind of a revitalizer for my own college grind.

I mean, I'm about the same age as Aoi and Friends, so it's entirely possible the show's just better than I've given it credit for and I'm right in one of its target audiences. Just sayin'.

Also, Diesel is really cool and got some great characterization this scene, Hiraoka needs to be punched.
