oh hey i'm sorry everyone. last time i bought a car i haggled the price down and I guess that hurt all car buyers ever because the manufacturer and dealer would have totally plowed that money into something amazing instead of one more line of coke for an executive.

also lol cremnob mad that Apple got its rear end whipped in a market.

manual labor job that requires no skills pays poorly and comes with few benefits, news at 11. amazon is hardly unique in that respect.

mmmmmm amazon's warehouses are especially horrible even compared to most distribution centers

of course they subcontract them to the lowest bidder so they can wash their hands of it

and then if the price of that labor is ever forced up it has a ceiling at wherever robot ROI is under 2 years.

one of the anti-union guys here told me a story about how distribution center workers would strategically leave pallets in aisles during their lunch break to block the robots so they couldn't continue towing stuff around until the humans got back. half an hour later there's a line of a dozen robot forklifts stuck in an aisle honking at each other

if workers feel they are being treated unfairly they can

  • individually ask for better wages

  • form a union and press for better compensation

  • organize a strike

  • quit and seek employment at a different business

  • quit and form their own business

of course, these solutions require a modicum of self-respect, and a willingness to expend effort and endure discomfort

yeah that's p bad. there's also the case in the courts where they are being forced to wait in line up to an an hour after their shift to go through a mandatory anti theft screening and are of course not payed for their time. everyone knows being a warehouse worker sucks and you'll be taken advantage of. singling out just amazon for it is p dumb though.
