Been looking at the stuff about An Alternative Reality: The Football Manager Documentary. In a trailer for it, a dude says he moved a 13-14 year old Lionel Messi to Barca A and he turned out to be a stud. I believe it's a load of bullshit, and found that he at least existed in FM05 at I think age 18. I came across this fun little post from back then. I believe it was posted in a serious tone. Messi was probably in the core database before then but marked NFE to the game itself. There is zero chance he was in as a 13 or 14 year old.

That poor child. Why didn't anyone protect him? There's a kid at Swansea who was only 15 last year but played regularly for the u18s at 14. Bit annoyed I've had to wait to make him a virtual superstar.

This essentially DOES have less injuries! Players can play through injuries with protective equipment, it's no longer binary poo poo where players will sit on your bench if they have a booboo on their arm and makes them much less of a hassle to deal with.

New tactics screen at least incorporates some of the 14 parts that made using the 15 one a chore. You guys know how in 15 you could play high tempo direct passing and still have sick possession and control of games? How's that working out now? For me it's absolutely finished.

Does nationality affect whether or not a player is willing to sign with a team? I manage in the mls and cannot sign Europeans to save my life, but just signed two 5+ star Canadian and American regens.

Obviously it's gonna take a long time to really get to grips with the match engine and reflect on it like we can with 15, but I'm really happy with the ME so far this version, and that makes a big change from some of the initial releases we've had in the past where the game could just be broken for a while. Pros: ME is polished, not a regression UI is a bit noisy and weird at first but it conveys a lot more information to you here and there, little things like you're more aware of the narrative of national and European football and which players are performing well etc. Tactics screen is still a bit janky but better than 15 and brings back some of the nice things about 14, like smoothly changing player roles Injuries are way better now Player interaction in the short terms seems less bizarre, can't say long term yet
