When I played this game before, I don't think i really realized how much ground Pigsy was covering, or that he'd apparently been so close to Cash right at the start.

I gotta give it to Starkweather; he gave a new meaning to 'character development' with Piggsy.

I'm super excited about seeing the end of this game thanks to you, Fiendly! I hope you're able to motor through the end of the game as easily as you did Little Inferno! Any idea what you're gonna LP next? The Warriors, or another underappreciated Rockstar gem? Bully's a really good one...

I got sick the day after finishing Little Inferno, but I'm almost to where I can record commentary again, then we can call this thing done pretty quickly. Coming up on the docket, I haven't considered The Warriors since dscruffy1 did such a great job of it already and Bully I've unfortunately never played, but what I am planning is certain to be of interest to anyone who enjoyed Manhunt, and for precisely the same reasons they enjoyed Manhunt.

Manhunt does seem like a game for those who like hurting other people... hmm... Postal 2, clearly!

I'd watch it. I love that game.

Postal 2 is a superior experience as it's: 1) a fun game 2) enjoyable to watch. Both of which Manhunt 2 are not. Let's go Postal 2.

Yeah, I watched YouTube LPs of them (they were surprisingly decent, LP wise), and they looked kinda... not... good.

azren posted:Yeah, I watched YouTube LPs of them (they were surprisingly decent, LP wise), and they looked kinda... not... good. I think they hit the general atmosphere well, but the first game's combat was basically "mash your attack button and catch the enemy in a looping stun animation" and otherwise exploration boils down to a series of key hunts, sometimes with a bomb counting down to spice things up. Then the second game decided that combat would be better if it consisted entirely of QTEs.

I quite like the ending segments that you've included in later updates, Fiendly. I played Manhunt back when it was a new release but the last few scenes are really hazy for me so I'm struggling to remember the last few of the game - totally looking forward to the last update to see what happens!

Out of all the executions, that last one is surprisingly well-detailed. They really wanted to make it special.

I'm glad you won't be doing Hotline Miami. It's doesn't lend itself well to LPs. I've been playing through the game myself and I'm actually finding it enjoyable and the game throws enough curve balls at you to approach every level differently despite the usual formula of ditract -> sneak -> kill and hide -> cover -> shoot. What are your least and most favorite levels in the game?

uncleKitchener posted:What are your least and most favorite levels in the game? I was actually thinking about that and I decided Graveyard Shift is definitely my least favorite. As for most favorite, it's hard to say because the various parts of the game each have their own flavor as guns become more and more prevalent, so I'm gonna say Drunk Driving is my favorite non-gun-based scene and Kill The Rabbit is my favorite gun-based scene. Pretty much all the scenes have their own sort of charm, though, so it's purely nominal to call any of them a favorite.

I find it weird that the devs did not have the Ramirez boss fight work like Pigsy's, except instead of luring him on a specific spot just have it so that if his health is below a certain threshold the stealth attack kills him instead of wounding and chasing him away.

The two guards that stay behind to guard the door to Starkweather can be stealth killed without getting them to move as they are both looking away from the stairs. Strangely the chainsaw is a silent takedown. Thanks a lot for showing this game off. Manhunt will always have a place in my heart, the atmosphere of the world and the unapologetic way it carries itself have a strange way of smoothing over a lot of the flaws. This was a fun LP, and I'm looking forward to the bonus vids and whatever you may be working on next.

Man, Starkweather's got a lot of lines for a 'fight' that would only normally last like 15 seconds.

So... Starkweather is modelled after Orson Welles, according to the art book?

Samovar posted:So... Starkweather is modelled after Orson Welles, according to the art book? I can see that, with a bit of Hitchcock in there as well. Really any famously dickish brilliant filmmaker would be an appropriate choice for Starkweather. Garrand posted:Man, Starkweather's got a lot of lines for a 'fight' that would only normally last like 15 seconds. Yeah, he had to make up for all those scenes where he maintained radio silence. Each line is a great little character moment for a guy who is finally about to be taken down from his ivory tower. While we're on the subject of character voices, I can now post the YouTube channel that contains ALL the audio from Manhunt. That's every voice clip in the game and the full soundtrack. I particularly recommend Mark Margolis' Tramp, our other escort The Journalist (who is indeed voiced by Debbie from Sealab), and James Urbaniak's Innocentz #5. And while we're here, I can post another major world-building highlight of Manhunt, the full game manual/snuff film catalog. PAL PS2 version NTSC PC version (higher resolution scans)

Since we're talking about character voices, I'm just going to mention Hood #1 is John Doman (Rawls from The Wire, Caesar from Fallout New Vegas)

UPDATE Here's the rest of Manhunt's bonus scenes. I didn't expect the bonus material to drag on this long, there's just been a lot of delays. I swear I'm not just trying to keep the thread alive as long as possible, we've actually got some solid content remaining and I aim to show off every last bit of it. Hopefully it's been worth the wait and won't take much longer to finish for good.

Nice to finally see the entirety of Monkey See, Monkey Die, as many times as I've played this game I was never able to beat that scene. Time 2 Die is a scene I kinda wish was included in the main game, but I guess it clashed too much with way the game usually played. I think it could have worked as the final section of another scene. I never thought to check but is there a cutscene or anything special if you let the time run out?

Iron Chitlin posted:I never thought to check but is there a cutscene or anything special if you let the time run out? Not at all, unfortunately, just an instant "Scene Failed" screen. I had hoped there'd at least be a line of dialogue about it, but I didn't get my hopes up because I remembered that letting Cash's entire family die in the scene where they're being held hostage also prompts an instant failure screen, so it would be a lot to ask of a bonus scene to do better.

UPDATE This is it, the last thing Manhunt has to offer us after fully mastering the game. I'm usually disappointed when cheats are used as an incentive for completion like they are here, which is why I was never interested in unlocking them until this LP, but I think this videos proves that it was well worth the effort this time. I love how this LP turned out and it looks like Baldurk just got back to archiving duty, so I'm really looking forward to the day Manhunt finally gets an entry on his esteemed site. Thanks for watching!
