So this article about the fighting at that trump rally isn't funny but it does have this bit I laughed atquote:The rally, one of many being held across the country, is sponsored by the pro-Trump group Liberty Revival Alliance and was originally scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. in Martin Luther King Jr. Civic Center Park. A regularly scheduled farmer’s market, which is usually held adjacent to the park, was canceled as a precaution.

I'll admit I never thought about it but every bank I've seen calls cashier's checks "secure" so I figured it also helped protect against stolen/lost checks, possibly by being able to void/cancel lost checks. After reading about it some more today I was clearly very wrong. Also the fact that modern banking is so hilariously insecure despite being backed by literal trillions of dollars in assets.

Cacafuego posted:Apparently this episode “Home” only aired once and I happened to see it live. Still creeps me out when I think about them rolling ma out from under the bed. It did eventually appear in syndication but Fox refused to ever air it again. It's also probably one of my all-time favorite episodes.

Leavemywife posted:Why did they refuse to reair it? The episode has a bunch of incest themes and opens with a deformed, crying baby being buried alive. It's a pretty brutal episode overall.

syscall girl posted:A friend of mine who hasn't yet turned on OSC linked me this insane short story about a guy who gets off on chasing women on the highways of Utah (go figure) until they panic and crash and burn and then lets his little mormons explore the magic underpants until he meets his match in a woman who is doing the exact same thing. Have you read the one about the dude who chucked his dog into traffic and raped his daughter? I used to be a huge OSC fan as a kid, had his short story collections and everything. Some of his stuff was pretty messed up.

Probably. Also I believe it was the Golden State killer who was finally caught when the cops uploaded his dna from some crime scenes, then used their database to match with close relatives and tracked him down from there. So by uploading your dna, you're functionally in a police database now!
