I used to be heavily involved in the breakcore / noise scene in my city but the shark-jumping moment for me was going to a Realicide gig in 2010 and watching the opening 'band' which was three guys; one of them had a portable turntable and was just dragging the stylus back and forth across a bunch of vinyl while the second dude screamed at the audience and the third dude sat in front of them and shoved McDonald's into his mouth and spewed it back onto the ground then after twenty minutes they got into a fist fight and threw their records at the audience hard enough to actually hurt people / shatter the records when they hit the walls and floor.

Then a dude tried to fight me for knocking over his beer and, even though Realicide put on a great show, when I was walking home after the gig I realised maybe the local DIY noise scene wasn't where I wanted to spend the rest of my life.

That sounds like a cool show though

I want someone to film themselves listening to the entire Merzbox, uninterrupted, without sleep or food. Probably also on acid or something. Why hasn't someone done this yet? poo poo, I'd do it. Maybe I will!

That's a very funny idea, precision.

yo I run with the orange county experimental/noise scene so I figured I'd post some highlights from my area.

KNOWN BIRD SIGHTINGS: pseudo-political conceptual drone on a telecaster in a signature open tuning

Shutterings: an ambient project with modern ideas that never forgets a certain classic influence
https://soundcloud.com/shutterings/quiverin-delight

catamites: bohemianism, rowland s howard guitar, general bjm style band dynamics
https://soundcloud.com/the-catamites/fat-hands-demo

weeper: my band, posting cause why not?
https://soundcloud.com/weeperthgs/thgs

the ambient project has vocals and a guitar it sounds like? where's the noise? This is all inoffensive enough that you could play it in a coffee shop.

None of this is noise, some of it is not even experimental. I do not understand...

That's because this thread is really bad and no one posting earnestly in it knows what they're talking about

i haven't seen them posted yet, and i'm not really in the noise scene at all, but have you guys listened to Lightning Bolt? they cite japanese noise bands as heavy influence, tho they are much more rock than ambient.
