During the height of DRM outrage, they released POP'08 on pc with no DRM to see if people would put their money where their mouths were in terms of piracy hurting only legit players. For those curious: it didn't. The console to pc sales curve got messed up, pc piracy ended up far higher. They ended up knowing because the lack of DRM meant nobody bothered to disable the thing in the game that called ubi to tell them know how far the player had gotten. people are saying that this is like how EA used BF3 to get people to use origin, which would make sense if EA hadn't told people months and months in advance that BF3 would be origin-only and hadn't allowed preorders on Steam at all, and instead pulled their preorders off Steam less than five days before their big annual releases began to launch

It feels like just yesterday people were enjoying Assassin's Creed Brotherhood and Rayman Origins and talking about how maybe Ubisoft wasn't a loving awful company oh well.

Like I'd rather those games just be on Steam, but it's not uplay or GFWL.
