My assumption is that Toomey has been keeping a low profile to keep people from realizing he's as crazy as Santorum, is that accurate / consistent with reality?

The Monkey Man posted:Pennsylvania did pretty well too, it was the only state where an incumbent GOP governor was unseated. To be fair it would have been much closer if a lot of people didn't blame Corbett for what happened with Penn State.

Concerned Citizen posted:He can't win because he's a pointlessly antagonistic dickhead who treats everyone around him like garbage. Some people see that as a plus for their elected officials. I think Toomey's days were numbered regardless of who won the primary but I guess most political predictions are out the window this year.

Already saw a Toomey ad attacking McGinty. Could mean he's desperate. I think I'll go with that.

Cliff Racer posted:He had those ads prepped and raring to go, along with Sestak versions, only waiting for the primary to know which to run. Well, yeah. The ad just aired again and it turns out she's too close to business. It's called the "revolving door"! It's going to be a long six months.

PA is more schizophrenic than solid blue, particularly when it comes to the Senate unless you consider Santorum ancient history. At this point though it's probably more name recognition than anything. I assume it's the same poll that has McGinty's fav/unfav at like 28/28*. Which probably explains the boatload of ads from business groups. * edit: actually that's from TPM's poll tracker going off of a whole two data points, so . It looks like that new poll has hers at 34/26 unfavorable to Toomey's 41/29. Probably too early to worry about anyway. edit edit: actually I don't have a clue what that tracker is based on, it says this PPP poll isn't included since it was an internet poll and there's only one other poll listed so what the gently caress. Yeah it's super weird to hear people freak out about that. Does that kind of thing not happen everywhere? e: I guess it might not, it's just I actually don't remember if there were any Dems running for my state house rep in the primary so I won't be surprised to see the Republican on both tickets. Again. It is probably less common for that to happen for the US House though. Polygynous has issued a correction as of 02:08 on Aug 3, 2016 |
