Sarah Palin clearly thinks she's the smartest person in the world so its not surprising that she thinks that when some people spend a weekend calling her an rear end in a top hat for letting her kid stand on her dog in Palin's mind that's a national scandal that is displacing ISIS in the news. Instead of just a weekend where a bunch of people got annoyed in passing at an rear end in a top hat doing an rear end in a top hat thing.

But, you know. Barack Obama eats puppies.

All I know is every single time I hear Sarah Palin speak or read an article about her it makes that Julianne Moore portrayal of her seem more and more reliable and valid.

Isn't also exactly what he said about the changing of the the education's mission statement that caused such controversy? Didn't he say "It wasn't us, they requested it" and then immediately that was proven to be a lie and he had to go with "It was just a mistake" and then it came out that his people specifically requested it?

I feel like most of the anti-gay marriage and anti single mother people I know would be fine with a bunch of sham, loveless marriages. A bunch of gay guys would be either repressing their urges or at least having the decency to hide it and a bunch of women would be at least playing their proper role. I don't think most of the folks complaining would care too much if it was all a lie as long as the cover was maintained.

Ben Carson at a live debate is definitely what I'm most looking forward to. I hope he doesn't flame out before then like Christie seems to be doing (because I was really looking forward to that too). Carson seems to be legitimately crazy and really very stupid and he's utterly convinced he's the smartest guy in the room. Even without a hostile or liberal moderator or opponent I can't imagine him making it through a debate without making a fool of himself.

The scariest part of that scary Jindal exorcism story is that part where he casually mentions that his ex called him a sociopath and he was beginning to think he had no feelings until a demon challenged him to love.

I have a friend who supports Jindal and whenever I bring up that exorcism she says "it was just college." Like that's what happens in college. You binge drink, you date rape a few girls, and you perform an exorcism. I did college all wrong.

As far as I can tell Wendy Williams is basically a less famous Oprah, and her audience consists almost entirely of middle class minority women. Am I missing something?

She was a popular shock jock on local ny radio when I was growing up. So more like hip hop Howard Stern. I don't watch her show or anything and her politics could have crystallized or changed over the 15 years or so since I've listened to her but my instinct would be that she's just doing her shock jock thing endorsing Trump.

It could be argued that this is just another lurking variable come to light that is the result of the Right Wing media bubble. Everyone just spouts talking points and agrees, while the high point of disagreement is articulating just how much Liberals suck. Then every 4 years someone opens the door to the outside and interaction occurs between the denizens of the bubble and those of the real world. Suddenly Chris Mathews is tossing his soft balls over hand, and people are actually questioning the candidates firmly reinforced group think opinions.

Thing is, it wasn't even Chris MATTHEWS, Rubio got "grilled" by Chris WALLACE. Jeb's disastrous week came from a question by Megyn Kelly and then screwed it up again with Sean Hannity. I'm not surprised that the Republican candidates are hostile with media, I'm surprised they're hostile with conservative media. Sure, they should encounter troubles once they leave the conservative bubble but what does it say when they're encountering these troubles inside the bubble?

If one candidate is going to make a good first impression if/when they all stumble in the first debate I imagine that might be Huckabee. Just because that guy doesn't seem to blink when being asked if he cons diabetes patients out of money with sugar pills. Huckabee will just tell his lie and give his southern preacher charm and if the rest of them are stumbling over themselves he could end up looking competent.

The most striking part of the story is that he says he has an "intimate" relationship with a woman he's never made any physical contact with and hasn't spoken to in a year, when she breaks down emotionally because of what she's going through he offers no support or comfort but asks others to do it and insists on not talking about it, and when she finally asks him to talk he actually refuses and she gets pissed off. I'm pumped for this debate because everyone is kind of desperate. Trump is slipping in polls for the first time so he's gotta fight back to maintain his big boy stance. Carson has a surge and people are starting to notice the stuff he says so he's gonna have to address some of that. Jeb!'s having some kind of breakdown and he might cry onstage. People are starting to notice that Rubio's in the room so he might have to say something. Fiorina is gonna want to be the star of another debate to get another surge so she's gonna talk a bunch about war and dead babies. And everyone else is on the brink of death and sort of needs to do something. Cruz seems like he might be the only guy who can coast.

And will the kiddie table be down to 3 people this time? That's just sad. I can't wait until November when there's just 2 guys onstage pretending they're still running for President.

I think Trump is going to flame out but this feels like a bit of a false moment to me. Carson seems like he's getting that "Oh, he seems interesting... wait, what did he say?" surge so I kind of expect it to fall apart soon, especially if he gets a lot of TV time tomorrow at the debate and someone presses some of his crazy. Carson doesn't respond to Trump's juvenile attacks the way Jeb! does but he gets testy when people challenge his crazy rear end ideas and statements. And that could quickly undermine the "nice, reasonable guy" image he seems to be riding on.

But I wonder if it does play that way and Trump jumps back into the lead if that will strengthen him and make him look like he fought back a challenge. That might renew people's interest in him and convince more people he's viable. I still think he'll probably fade out by the time its all said and done but it could prolong things for him if Carson drops this lead quickly back to him.
