Skateboarding experience will help, but yeah, be prepared to spend a day sliding down a mountain on your rear end. Also you will more than likely make a fool of yourself getting off the chairlift. And yeah, wear a helmet. I never did, which meant that after a few bad falls I got the fear and was afraid of going fast or trying new things.
