Part of that was a big part of the fandom was already burned by the manga's ending, so the anime ending was really just perfunctory

I still think the Joint Training Arc is one of the worst shonen arcs I've ever experienced Basically no point to it until the very end (and frankly you could have done the One For All reveal in like a million other contexts)
