Hmmm. A video game depicting a sexual relationship happens to be similar to other forms of media depicting sexual relationships. It strikes me that there's a connection, but if you insist there isn't...

That and it's funny.

Yeah, but even if we look at the romance subplots of books that are in this sort of catergory they are either a) None existant (which I would prefer) or b) Ball shatteringly terrible (looking at you GRRM).

This is just bland, it is not pride and prejudice, but it isn't twilight either.

Maaaaybe not so thrilled? Crafting is just select bit, press buttan, get thing. Base building is visual improvements and I believe mechanical, but I'm not aware of how far the visual changes go, also button pressing. Sending people on missions is critical to just about everything and you get a small cutscene for some of them, a bit (a couple paragraphs) of text relating and a nice picture, not to mention the mechanical benefits.

Well critical in the sense that it's how you progress the story/unlock zones, which are the ones you get cutscenes for.

Is anybody supposed to like Cole?

Then crafting is armor and weapons, stats mostly, appearance depends on materials and parts used. Different parts give different stats, gems/sockets are thing.

Skyhold I don't know about the mechanical implications of the upgrades, it's probably somewhere on the internet by now.

I suspect Skyhold will be attacked or sieged at some point, and relate to the story? "How well upgraded it is, is how much survives!" or some poo poo? I'm down for mechanical and cosmetic though - I am excited!

Sounds about right. Awakening did the same thing - if you did four particular sidequests to upgrade and fortify Vigil's Keep, it would survive if you save the city of Amaranthine instead. Normally you have to choose which to save, but fully upgraded Vigil's Keep lets you get the golden ending there.

Still, trying to not get excited about this game. Bioware's let me down on really good-sounding games in the past.

That's not what gaslighting means you hyperbolic dipshit.
Is it just me or does the specialization video in the OP make the Rogue Assassin specialization just look like a mage who shoots purple and green magic instead of orange and blue magic? You don't have to be anywhere near your target to kill them. There's even a Diablo 3-like Monk Seven Sided Strike ability, but you just cast it and you stay where you are. It doesn't transport you to your enemy. Weird.

I'm a librarian, and worked at a public library for about a year. Paperback romances written by and for middle-aged women were some of the most popular and commonly checked-out books. Especially the [male] gay romances, which invariably feature two or more bare-chested studmuffins on the front cover.

Computer games are finally catching up to books.

And they really do go through every goddamn Keep choice which might be useful to some folks - the guys in the video get pretty much everything right.

Also something they pointed out which I hadn't considered before - DA2 makes sense if you think of it like a villain's origin story, the villain being Hawke. I'm tempted to now make a Keep world state where Hawke was mage who was in cahoots with Anders just so I can (hopefully) dick them both over in Inquisition.

Thanks; I went ahead and added it to the OP--better safe than sorry.

It also makes sense if you role-play non-Mage Hawke as Nier (for extra RP make him a Berserker/Reaver Two-Handed Warrior). A guy trying to take care of his sister (Yonah = Bethany) in a lovely world, taking any inane job for random people on the street and somehow making friends with scantily clad psychopaths (Kaine = Isabela/Fenris/Justice!Anders), freaks (Emile = Merrill/Anders), and snakry guys calling you out on all of your bullshit (Weiss = Aveline/Varric), but somehow loving things up for everyone every step of the way.

The lack of content, and rushed nature of it was poo poo. But the actual concept of DA2 was really cool and could've been something very special. I did like the thematic design of it and the narrow focus of the story, I prefer that kind of focus than GALACTIC ARMAGEDDON.

Do each of the races have different voice actors or are there just 2 per gender? If so, who has the least lovely voice acting do we think? I played Mass Effect as a woman because Hale was the best voice actor of the two.

I'm probably going to be a Dwarf mage though, because Dwarves are the best. Can you manually control your party members like you could in Dragon Age 1?
