During the few months when X and Y were out but Pokemon Bank wasn't, I went out and fished for a shiny Magikarp, so that I could have a shiny Gyarados during the only time in history when that would be even slightly special.

Congrats OP! I got my first legit shiny Ducklett in X/Y which is pink from just hatching random eggs and then I saw the shiny for Swanna and was sorta disappointed. I pretty much just put an everstone on it.
