All this talk of 'Dark Eyes' has got me interested. I heard the first series of 8th Doctor Adventures with Lucie Miller when Radio 4 broadcast them a few years back but haven't kept up since then. Would I be OK to hop in again starting with Dark Eyes I or should I fill in the gap?

I have a massive crush on Faye Marsay.

Also, yes, best Christmas special.

I just got done finishing up the copy of Silver Nemesis that I got for Christmas. It wasn't nearly as bad as I had been led to believe, and makes me miss the EXCELLENT 80s Cybermen even more.

Ace and her +2 Slingshot of Cyberman Murder are kind of charming. It's still dumb that it's the 'official' 25th anniversary story when Remembrance Of The Daleks is so much more clearly meant as that.

Really it should have been The Happiness Patrol.

I was just reading the Wikipedia list of unmade Doctor Who stories and came across this:

Wikipedia posted:

"Untitled storyline (Abbott)"
Written by Paul Abbott, this episode was intended for episode 11 of Series 1. With Jack Harkness having joined the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler, Rose feels left out.[citation needed] But when they land in Pompeii in 79 AD,[citation needed] Jack discovers that Rose's life has been manipulated by the Doctor in an experiment to create the perfect companion. Abbot's commitment to Shameless and other projects led to him dropping out of the episode. Russell T Davies took over and wrote "Boom Town" in its place.

That would have been much more interesting than what we got in it's place. And far creepier.

On paper that sounds pretty horrible and not fitting with the Doctor at all, but I assume the end result of the story would be Jack discovering he had the wrong end of the stick and had misinterpreted what was going on.

It seems pretty 7th Doctor to me.

I enjoyed Kill The Moon a lot on first and even second viewings, though perhaps less after that once I'd read some critiques here and elsewhere. Like DoctorWhat I've never really been on board with the "science/logic" critiques of the idea being too inherently implausible, that just isn't the kind of thought that ever crosses my mind during any Doctor Who, but the muddled message re: the abortion themes in the story has left my feeling a little uneasy about it in hindsight.

Does anyone know if any plans have been mooted to give Web of Fear and Enemy of the World fuller DVD releases than they currently have now, with all the usual commentaries, documentaries, etc?
