Probably the intake box/filter/piping itself.. the valves are inside the engine so they'd be hard to see by just popping the hood.

The easiest way to get a grip on the clutch bite zone is to clutch in all the way and very slowly back off until the point where the RPM start to dip. Hold it steady right before that dip point and you shouldn't roll too much when you let off the brake.

Yeah there is. The secret is that after you figure out the catch point you don't really have to clutch in beyond that for getting started moving again.
