Was 3 feet an unreachable hard limit to pizza technology at the time? Can we go over 3 feet now?

In 1993 my high school got fashion label Mambo to design their school uniform. Apparently this is the only picture of it online and it's 90s as all hell. There were also some massively baggy jeans and a zip up hoodie. The school colours were black and white so getting a label known for bright colours and wacky designs was a odd choice.

Ok surely the 90s thread can help me with this. Back in the 90s people would say "Psycho!" with a high pitched voice and then they'd twirl a finger around their ear. It's from something and I can't remember what it was. If I ever knew.

It’s from Psycho. When Norman is revealed to be the killer, one of the characters does just that

Oh of course! When he's doing the monologue about the fly you can see one of the doctors peeking through the door doing it. Thanks.

Nobody? It's impossible to google this and I'm sure I'm not just going senile and imagining it. I'm mostly sure. Pretty sure.

Yeah I never felt it was a "girls show". I always figured it was just another teen sitcom like Saved By The Bell and..that other one.

This was probably the first time I'd ever really heard grunge. I don't think I had my guns'n'roses and metallica posters for much longer after I saw this.

For some reason (cultural cringe I suppose) it was really uncool to like Silverchair in Australia, at least where I grew up it was. People would call them Nirvana in Pyjamas. But hearing it now it's kinda nuts how good they were for 15yos

I was listening to Evil Empire today 'cause you know, timely. That poo poo could have been released this year and it's loving 24 years old.

I'm listening to that too now and it just doesn't have the timelessness of Evil Empire. Evil Empire just goes for the guts and is musically different to any else I've heard.

If you're Australian, of a certain age, and want to mainline some nostalgia Heartbreak High is on Netflix now.

I'm pretty sure it was loosely based on this book even though Wikipedia says it was based on the movie The Heartbreak Kid.

Released in 89 but I think most people would have heard it in the 90s.

Stereogum has a column called The Number Ones, where Tom Breihan is writing an article on every single song that has ever hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, in chronological order, going all the way back to Ricky Nelson's "Poor Little Fool" in 1958. He's up to 1991 now, and if you're reading this thread you'd probably be into it. He's currently in what is to my mind the absolute nadir of pop music. I mean, there are some memorable songs (his current column is on EMF's "Unbelievable"), but there is so much completely unmemorable crap. And I don't mean one-hit wonders, either; those are usually people whose one hit was memorable. Positive K was a one-hit wonder, but people totally loving remember "I Got A Man."

But Tommy T. Who the gently caress was Tommy T? This was a #1 hit song, but I defy anyone to remember hearing this song in 1991.

Anyone, check the column out, it's uniformly excellent. Every article is full of 'today I learned," poo poo. Like I had no idea that the gravel-voiced old guy singing on the Box Top's "The Letter" was a 16-year-old Alex Chilton. I didn't know that the Divinyls were formed by people who left fuckin' Air Supply. Or that FYC was started by the rhythm section from The Beat (In the US they were called The English Beat and you definitely know some of their songs).

Here's the column on She Drives Me Crazy:

And here's Dolly Parton's cover:

Thanks for this, I needed something to read today.

Back to one hit wonders. Here's another one that I've had stuck in my head for 30 years.

This started in 1988 but season 2 was in 1990 and think most people would remember the repeats as part of the 90s. I'd best post it in the 90s thread too just to be sure.

You never see kids play with water guns anymore. I guess these days they use fpv drones to fly water balloons directly into each others bedrooms.
