Segmentation Fox posted:Battlemaster, one of us ought to register up @emergency_capy as a companion to such cute-thread-fodder as @emergency_fox and just set up an auto-poster script or something. I'm glad you like them I might do something like that if only as an excuse to finally use Twitter for something. The guys hanging out with capys in these pictures are maras, the fourth biggest rodent species. They are cavies like capys and guinea pigs. They're closely related to capys, the difference being that their common ancestor went to the plains and evolved to be more rabbit-like while capys moved to the rivers and marshes and evolved to be hippo-like. Before they were properly classified as rodents they were called the Patagonian hare. From what I've seen I don't think capys and maras can tell the difference between each other.

Aaaah the combo was broken before I even got here. Wild capybaras playing on the beach. Apparently the salt water doesn't bother them. Makes me wonder if they would have evolved into something resembling manatees in a few million more years if humans didn't come along and disrupt everything's development.

Quesselin posted:My husband of 12 years and I agreed last night that we're getting a divorce. It's amicable, we're going to stay friends, we still care for each other (just not like that), so that's cool and all, but I'm still really, I don't know, sad, disappointed, nervous and stressed about the future, all those things and a thousand more. Cute pics of capybaras and guinea pigs will be especially appreciated, but any cute animals will do. This thread is just the best Aww, I hope things work out for you two. They say you shouldn't swim after eating, but they didn't say anything about eating while swimming. Also if you didn't think capys could move because they're fat and lazy, check this out https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=752929388136674&pnref=story

Stupid_Sexy_Flander posted:Why are there lemons in the pool? They're yuzu, a Japanese orange-like fruit that smells really strongly especially in hot water. In some regions of Japan people bathe with them because of the scent. Capybaras are marketed as the animal that likes hot springs as much as the Japanese do, so they like to do up their baths to look like traditional Japanese baths. Capys don't understand this purpose and will eat anything with cellulose in it especially if it tastes or smells sweet so if you look carefully you can see a few bites in the yuzu.
