The fact that they're called "reborns" is perhaps the most distressing part. I don't mean to judge a woman in those kinds of circumstances, they should deal with it however they like, but holy poo poo is it the most soulcrushing thing in the world.

The other link was from the director's own account which has all his other films on it, and your link doesn't work. Well done.

Aesop Poprock posted:Just making sure, you are both aware cyclopia and various similar congenital defects are relatively common, right? That picture isn't even the freakiest they get *looks up Cyclopia* quote:SHH (Sonic Hedgehog Gene Regulator, named after the effects a mutation in the gene had on the forming embryo of fruit flies studied by scientists; a spiky appearance under a microscope, similar to that of its video game character namesake) is involved in the separation of the single eye field into two bilateral fields. Although not proven, it is thought that SHH emitted from the prechordal plate suppresses Pax6 which causes the eye field to divide into two. If the shh gene is mutated, the result is cyclopia, a single eye in the center of the face (Gilbert, 2000).

You could just post the trailer which is hosed up enough https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgCxCZNkQ9E Fantastic Planet is one of the most persistently horrifying films I've ever seen. I was unlucky enough to catch it on TV when I was like 10 and I had nightmares about that opening scene with the mother and her baby for years afterwards.
