EDIT : Why don't I check, I think the answer is no, although Magnussen requires a tiebreak to beat Kimi whereas before he'd be a point clear.

Perez got the jump on someone I think.

I didn't see any mention of Lewis' brief conversation with royalty, but I recall it going something like this...

Prince Harry: :tipshat: "Well done, Lewis, you've made Britain proud!"
Lewis: :byodood: "WOOOOOO! CHAMPION!"

Or something to that effect. I tell you, it's as if he were raised on a couch in the slums like an animal.

They played it out of order. If you actually watch the broadcast they have prince harry on, then its lewis, then the team talking to him then finally introducing Prince Harry.

Wasn't it basically the opposite of Abu Dhabi. His car overheated first because he was behind Nico and cooked his brakes whereas Nico could manage his?

Kimi was top of first practice last season too. Didnt work out quite so well.

The scary thing should be the amount of laps the Mercedes and Williams put out, that means they're reliable and are doing what the designers expexted so arent having to gently caress around with terrible aero/engine issues a lot. Gives them plenty of time to dial it in even better.

Stationary testing wont put any g's on the cables or components. I reckon most of that stuff is caused by bits shifting around through corners and then being out of alignment or leaking slightly. A proper test shows these things up.

they have no way to simulate a moving chassis in the loving MTC?

I suppose you could bolt it onto one of those astronaut trainers and spin it round while running but then you have to include all the stuff to keep it going. I'm sure they do simple things like bumping it around but I don't think anyone could simulate an engine being thrown around a track without it being on a track.

I wouldn't be surprised that the first time an engine is exposed to serious g's is when its first in the car.
