much like a decibel is defined as "the amount a teenager turns the stereo down when asked"*, the Fahrenheit degree is defined as "the amount your grandmother turns the heat up when it's cold"

the best scale is that one you're used to. too bad you're used to a lovely arbitrary scale that has no real world bearing and if you want to do anything serious with it you need to convert out of it first

america is simulatenously the most advanced country on earth, and the most hosed up backwards one. no other country would so fervently defend a backwards meaningless measurement system as america does, the blind patriotism is incredible, almost admirable if it wasn't so misdirected

i use what i grew up with. glad it's also a very convenient unit of mass, and when doing physics calculations i don't need to convert between anyting because anything worthy of science is already using it! the maths are also easy and also given i work with drugs and every single weight measurement in the drug universe is in grams that helps too :) i just count myself lucky, really

there are like 9 or 10 f2 in a m2 so 9-10*4000??? 36000-40000?

point was that 0 - 100 F is the range of temps humans commonly live in/experience.

people's individual temperature preferences within that range are irrelevant to F or C.

when has anyone ever needed to know this? it's like when metric people try to prove how clever they are by asking how many rods are in a mile or something.

quick foreigns: without looking it up, how many decimeters are in a hectometer?

the point is that you're clinging onto the tiniest of threads and all you have left is that you like your one because on a average day its between 0 and 100.

what if i told you that the top speed limit in nz is 100km/h
are you all of a sudden gonna wanna start using km/h because your average daily driving speeds are betwen 0 and 100

its literally the same argument but i bet you give no fucks about mph being on a less-than-aesthetically pleasing scale
