the south island is like a nice roast meal. lots of variety, down to earth flavours. nothing too fancy

the north island is like a well cooked filet mignon, served on some undercooked mashed potatoes, and as you bite into the mashed potato you see a streak of brown running through it and your worset fears have come true

pole? huh? the f and c scales cross over at -40.

e: oh ahh you mean you were at the south pole and it was always around -40 so the scales read similar values. gotcha

i mix and match metric and imperial depending on scale

like i will drop down from inches to cm/mm when its like under 5 inches or so?

temperature though is in Fahrenheit because i dont want to have to use decimal points to get a good feel of what the temp is.

"it's 72" or "its 55" or "its 28" is fine.

centigrade always has to use decimal points to give precision because the range of human temps is so small within it.

uhhhh

like scientifically sure you're gonna say 37.0C

but for everyday usage just "oh its 24 degrees out what a nice day" who actually gives a gently caress if it's 24.0 or 24.3

1435mm ? because everyone uses it (lol if you don't)

historically probably brunel's 2140mm because you can get more stability at higher speeds i think and obviously have wider trains with more capacity

apparently hitler planned a 3000mm gauge train which would have swimming pools and hotels on it (hitler was also a lunatic)
